Well, have had Norton for 12 years now, dumped it today. Renewal is up to $65. Recommendation was to go with Webroot, so, that's what I did. Norton had a survey on why you were uninstalling it. I told them I could buy it new for a lot less than that, $40. to be exact. So, I guess I'll find out if the new one is better or not.

You may want to take a look at the free AVG ANTI-VIRUS FREE EDITION 2012. It's rated higher overall than the current version of Microsoft Security Essentials(MSE), especially in detection/protection and now even similarly light on system resources. This according to independent security organizations and not from advertiser based publications. It also incorporates new patent pending social engineering malware detection which no other free AV package currently offers. AVG 2012 Free also comes with Free phone technical support. You can download the full install directly from AVG here.

We watch the Staples adds each year and buy the 3 PC version of Norton Internet Security for about $35 after rebate. We use it on 2 desktops and one laptop.

Good luck with the un-install!
Norton was quite tenacious, it took a lot of doing to completely remove all traces of Norton when I did it years ago. That outfit has a history of leaving some services intact and hidden stuff on your boot drive.
