First off you need to look at what classification your diesel engine is requiring. That is more important than the brand. All oils that fall under that classification will be acceptible, then you can decide on what brand you wish to run.

Personally, I run the Rotella T 15W-40 in both my Cummins ISL and my Onan genset. Rotella T surpasses the API CJ-4 classification that is required by most manufacturers now to comply with the low-emissions requirements.

Hi All.

When we had our PSD Truck, we used Rotella only. Some people like the Delco 400 for thier Diesels.

I tried the Delco 400 one time, as it is cheapwer than Rotella.

After I changed the oil, I could easily hear the differanc ein how my 7.3 PSD sounded. I took my truck out for a drive. It sounded even worse on the highway.

I couldn't believe the differancce between Rotella and Delco. The Delco made my 7.3 PSD sould terrible. It clacked and sounded like it had a bad rattle, like a meteal to metal sound.

I drined the Delco that same day, an put another new oil filter, and put Rotella back into it. It went right back to its normal sound once again.

I would never use Delco 400 ever again in anything.

When we bought pour Motorhome wiht a 460 EFI in it, I changed the oil and filter, and used Roteela in it. I also use it in our 5.5 Generator. I didn't notice any sound changes in the 460. But it sure quited down the 5.5 Generator some. Rotella does a great job of Lubing. So all I use now in the Motorhome and the Motorhomes Generator is Rotella.

It might cost a little more that some oils used in 460's, but its worth every cent that it costs.

It also works good in a Gasser as well.

I also use Rotella in our 1999 Honda CR-V, which has 151,000 miles on it. It also made that 4 cyl sound a bit quiter also. We hope to get another 150,000 more miles out of our CR-V.

Its still in almost Mint Condition. Has been Towed for 14 years. It still looks new and drives great. Doesn't use a drop of oil between oil changes. Still has great compression also.

Rotella has been around for Diesel Motors for many many years now.

Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

I've used Rotella for years. It's by far the best.

Which diesel oil? Here is a question I have, what is PREMIUM diesel oil? Premium is the term I use in the ad when I sell my hay. LOL. Don't think it means a thing but it catches customers.

I use API CJ-4 oil. IT just happens to be Delo 400LE 15-40W. I think the best way to pick your oil is to first pick the specs that are required for your vehicle. Then, if you like a particular brand go for it. The grandious idea that one brand of CJ-4 oil is better than another brand of CJ-4 oil is nonsense. Is a Ford better than a Dodge? Or is a Chevy better than a Ford? I don't think so. The catchy phrases just sucks in customers.

I use CJ-4 oil over CI-4 or CI-4 plus oil in my tractors. I just have to change oil a little more often than I would with CI-4 oil because my farm diesel fuel has a higher sulphur content than your road diesel.

For road vehicles you probably should be using CJ-4 oil.

If one brand of oil was better than another brand of oil wouldn't they have some special specs for that so called highly premium oil? NOPE, just CJ-4.
