Has anyone ever stayed at Tomoka SP in FL? Also can anybody tell me about the state parks in FL? I read a lot but there is nothing like hearing from real people camping there. I have a Travel Trailer.

We've camped in Tomoka a couple of times. It's an older park and they haven't upgraded the sites the last time we were there. The sites are in the trees and you have good privacy from other campers. But the access roads in the CG are narrow. It's a nice but not great park. The beaches are maybe 20 minutes away. Some of the sites are on a tidal river.
We have also camped in the majority of other Florida State Parks, the older ones tend to have narrow access roads. They mostly all have power and water (with a few exceptions). And the park system is in a middle of an upgrade process to add FHU to sites. In general they are clean, and mostly quiet. Many have springs or beaches nearby (or on the beach in some cases). Having camped in the parks of many other states I'd rate them at the top.
WIFI access may be available at a few parks at the visitor center. They generally have good hiking trails. The park rangers are usually friendly and helpful but in rare exceptions may not be, Paynes Prairie has a reputation for that. I assume this reflects the personality of the guy in charge.

Thanks, I wanted to go to Anastasia but they are booked and this is the first time camping in our TT. We have tented it for about 30+ years. I will book now for next year there unless you don't like that park...

Anastasia is fine. And I didn't mean to say that Tomoka has major problems. I'd think twice about taking a big-high RV in there because of the roads tho.

The Florida state park system is huge, over 150 parks, probably about half have RV facilities. There are five major regions, Panhandle, Northeast, Central, Southwest, Southeast (including Keys). They are booked solid this time of year, especially on weekends. The panhandle parks are closer to you and there are a lot of nice parks on the Gulf Coast. My personal favorite is Silver River SP near Ocala.
As agesilaus said, most have water and electric only.

We did go to Eastpoint Fl last March but that was before our TT. St. George SP was beautiful. The panhandle is another world compared to a lot of Florida places. We wanted to go somewhere different. It has been years since we drove on Daytona Beach..just want to recapture some of the fun.
We will just wing it and see where the road takes us. Thank you

Being from Florida, we have visited most of the state parks. Our favorite is Hillsborough River State Park. Great place for kayaking, nice sites too. If you want to see gators, try Myakka in the Sarasota area. Also a nice park with a trail to a swinging bridge. We are 36 feet and cannot get into Anastasia but it too is nice. Almost all the state parks are the REAL Florida.

We camped in Anastasia and are 36 ft not sure why you thought you did not fit.

There is one loop at Anastasia that has several long sites. You have to get on Reserve America and look at each site. We have camped there twice with our 38ft 5er, in fact we are headed there next month.

We like Silver River State Park in Ocala, FL. The newest state park.
Hillsborough River State Park (north of Tampa) is also nice.
If you like peace and quiet, Stephen Foster State Park in White Springs is beautiful. Enjoy your trip and let us know what you think of the park.
