Jumped in the truck and it was dragging like the brake was stuck....chocked the other side of the trailer...First thing I did on my first trip with the new trailer was make a checklist as I set it up and again when I packed up.

One of the very first things I did was make a checklist - works great, as long as you check the list. The last time I didn't I fired a chock into the neighbours yard as we left the driveway LOL!

Oh and don't forget to put the antenna down. Forgot once, made it 3 sites down before a neighbor got our attention. Got it put away without incident but not easily forgotten. It was on the checklist but DH somehow missed it on that trip.

Yeah, always blame it on the DH.

yup since outside is his world and inside is mine. I view the antenna as part of the outside so it is on his checklist. besides my job is to just look pretty and drive right? I'll park it where he tells me to.

Anyone ever have their sewer hose blow off the inlet in the ground? It happened to me once.. It was July, very hot day parked near the beach in South Carolina.. NOT a thing to do if you care to be popular. I'm a bit more careful now..

I read somewhere on here (tip and tricks maybe). The poster hangs their TV keys from the antenna handle to remind them to put it down.

Made many mistakes camping with my PUP over the last 20 years. I really need to slow down on set-up and tear down. Im always in a hurry going 100 mph and I forget things. Like......

* had camper all cranked up, door installed and bunk ends extended. It was only then that I realised that I forgot to unload the 4 bikes from the roof top bike rack.

* Attempting to crank down camper with door still installed

* Left GR Michigan on my way to my annual August NASCAR race at MIS. It wasn't until I was traveling through Battle Creek that I realised I had left the crank handle on the tongue. Thought to myself oh well its gone now. With 5,000 campsites at MIS im sure I will find one that fits. Just outside the track we stopped to top off our coolers with ice and low and behold it was still there!!

* Left the side cargo door open while returning home from a trip. Wife was behind me most of the way. Upon returning home she notified me that we needed a new dust pan for the camper. When I asked her why, she told me that she ran over the old one when it fell out of the camper!!!

* waaaaay back in my rookie days, prior to owning a truck, our first camper was a 1974 Starcraft PUP. Thing was a beast!! I towed it with a car. I had to travel about 40 minutes south of town to get to the CG. Friends were already there when I was backing into my site. I got it right where I wanted it on the first attempt. After bragging about how good I was, my buddy pointed out that I wasn't very good and showed me the lock pin for my hitch. Seems I forgot to lock the hitch onto the ball. In hindsight that day, I thought it was towing funny and that the camper seemed "bouncy" in the tongue. My saving grace then was the front of the camper had all the floor space so that's where we packed a lot of our stuff so it made the PUP tongue heavy.

I really need to slow down, take my time and do a thorough walk around and check and re-check everything with this new TT prior to towing it anywhere.

I forgot the power cord plugged in once. Ripped the plug out of the wall. Now I do a walk around anytime I'm about to go. Even if we just stopped to use a bathroom. Also forgot to put the brake controller back inthe truck once. Noticed it about 10 miles from home and stopped to plug it in.

What's really funny about this thread is that no body can refer to anyone else as a "dumb sheet, didn't you know any better" because we all have a story to tell or we are liars.. Being I am perfect and never did anything stupid, , I'll relate a learning experience of our Son. A couple weeks ago he bought a whole solar charging set up, leaned the panel against the trailer while disconnecting and leveling. As he was cranking down the front the solar panel caught on something on the trailer and shattered the panel. He didn't even get a chance to try it out. I don't want to mention the time I was back flushing the black tank. Dear ol' Forest River quality control missed the fact that the vent pipe wasn't connected, which caused a build up of pressure by the incoming flushing water which exploded out of the commode when I opened the valve to see how full the tank was. Luckily it was dumped and it was the second flush.. Still, not nice...

Way back when we moved to AZ we had a small house that was filled with kids still at home. Our oldest Daughter who lived back home visited with her husband and because we were short of room I set up the pop-up in the street for them to sleep in. I guess the Daughter picked the rear bunk and her husband the front one so when he awoke first in the morning, got out of the trailer, because I forgot to put down the jacks it tipped up and dumped her in the street in her nightgown. Believe it or not, they're still married.......And she still talks to me............ MOD, ya' gotta keep this tread going..
