I see a lot of posts on here about water damage from various reasons to TT's. My question is why not submit this to the insurance company and let them pay for it (less your deductible) and have the repair done by a professional. Granted many may think an RV professional is few and far between but I think water damage, no matter how it occurred is a covered peril under the insurance. Just throwing this out there.

Nice try but unless you were in a flood you are out of luck.

It would depend on your insurance policy.
MAYBE water damage due to leaks is covered, Probably not.
Talk to your insurance agent about YOUR policy, and ask about coverage for such an incident if you don't have it. You might find it is relatively cheap, but I would bet on prohibitively expensive!

Much of the time, water damage is directly attributed to lack of maintenance done by the owner in sealing joints and seams as required by the trailer manufacture. I have not checked but I doubt my insurance company is going to pay for something that could have been prevented if I had done what I was required to do.

I did this last year for on our 04 Surveyor, filed a claim with State Farm for water damage to the floor. I found a discolored floor in the spring last year(3 different areas) and tore up the floor to find a wet rotting wood floor. I decided it was going to be a big fix and worth a shot to turn into insurance company. They(State Farm) decided to total it and gave me the choice of $9200 and they keep it or $6700 and I could keep it(buy it back from them for $2500). The adjuster even told me that in Michigan if its under ten years old the title remains clear or no salvaged title. I choose the $6700 option with clear title and its still covered with State Farm, had to show pictures of the repairs.

Depends on the insurance coverage you have. Our policy covers water damage from roof leaks & broken pipes or drains but a claim will raise our rates 20% for 3 years. Just have to weigh the total cost of repairs to the cost of increased premiums.

we just went through this from last winters damage. Water got in through the roof and damaged the ceiling. Long story short...the insurance co totaled the TT and we fought over the value for awhile but ended up settling at a reasonable number.
It really depends on the coverage. Well worth investigating it.

I believe that my trailer water damage was due to roof damage. The insurance inspector indicated that it was from "indeterminate" cause, therefore it was not covered by GMAC Insurance.
I sold it as water damaged, to a Canadian trailer inspector who indicated that he found the problem and was going to spend the winter in his heated barn rebuilding. I had an estimate of $6000 for repair (side wall at front).

Don't complain when the price goes up or you get dropped and no other carrier wants you for claims activity

Actually for us, it was our second claim(different issues)on our trailer. We haven't been dropped by our insurance company nor has our price changed, still $135 for the year.
