As many of you know, I am a LEO. Our police service is expecting delivery of the following vehicles shortly.

- One F150 EcoBoost (K9 unit)
- Two Taurus sedans (NA 3.5 and an EcoBoost 3.5L) - one AWD, one FWD. One will be a marked patrol car and one will be an unmarked traffic enforcement car
- Two "Utility" Police vehicles (which are the Ford Explorer) one 2wd (FWD) 3.7L V6 (300hp) and an AWD version with the 3.7L (same as above, one patrol one traffic).

The garage staff said they liked the fact that the Utility and Taurus shared a number of common parts (such as brakes and tire size).

I'll let you know how they turn out.

We currently have the following in the fleet:
- F250 6.2L gasser 4x4 (3.73) Fleet service truck, not used for patrol duty
- Hemi Chargers (holy FAST) patrol and traffic -- there isn't a better looking police car than an unmarked Hemi Charger IMO
- A whole whack of tough, proven, Ford Crown Vics (this is the majority of the fleet for now)
- Expedition 4x4s (Patrol supervisors)
- Chevy Tahoes (4x4)
- Chevy Impalas (just a couple for traffic enforcement, the front wheel drive is nice in winter)

Oh, and for you bowtie guys, we are not getting any of the new Caprices from Chevy because for some reason they are not available in Canada.

Interesting to know, so far I have not heard really any negatives of the ecoboost, so you should have good luck. I hope other manufactures take note of what Ford is doing with this engine. Keep us posted.

It will be good to hear about long term results from these vehicles. Police vehicles are usually well maintained, but they also are used very hard. This should be a very good test for durability.

LOL Not many will be getting away from you. Should be yet another good test for the EB engine.

Better order a couple spares to get by with, until the parts come in for the broken ones.

The OP's thread raises a lot of questions:

I wonder why GM is not selling any Caprice police packages in Canada ? A terrible idea for GM to not sell in Canada, as many police departments are at this point...with no more Crown Vics available...looking for long term replacements.

Are the new Fords (Taurus, Eco Boost F 150) in your department, as test vehicles ?

Did your police dept. not find the Hemi Charger police packages satisfactory and therefore not order anymore, or were the Fords lowest bidders ?
