I hate crown vics. Slow and noisey they are, but the handling is very predictable. We're getting two police interceptors with ecotoot/awd in a couple months.

Price wise, like stated above, the charger was a super deal. Next was the interceptor and the most expensive was the caprice. Expensive by a good sum, but from what I've heard from folks operating caprices they are the most roomy option out there.

Doesn't sound like the new interceptor is all that roomy at all. But i'll be finding out soon

The OP's thread raises a lot of questions:

I wonder why GM is not selling any Caprice police packages in Canada ? A terrible idea for GM to not sell in Canada, as many police departments are at this point...with no more Crown Vics available...looking for long term replacements.I don't know.

Are the new Fords (Taurus, Eco Boost F 150) in your department, as test vehicles ? Yes. We ordered "one of each" so to speak to see how they hold up.

Did your police dept. not find the Hemi Charger police packages satisfactory and therefore not order anymore, or were the Fords lowest bidders ? Nothing wrong with the Hemi Chargers at all. We also have a couple 3.5L V6 versions that we have had for a few years and they have held up well. The Fleet manager is trying a sample from each manufacturer to get feedback from the front line officers on likes/dislikes.

Sounds like a wise fleet manager in your dept.

Ford announced today that the Explorer is now available with the 3.5 EcoBoost. I suspect the "Interceptors" will get first dibs.

The K9 truck is in!

Sorry for the crappy pics, it is being stored in the "welding bay" until it gets outfitted and there's not much room in there....

I took a picture of the payload sticker too for anyone who's interested. It's a 2012 F150 crew cab 4x4/auto/XLT. Payload is 1471#.

This is not an EcoBoost, but I thought while I was in there, i would snap a few pics of our F250 shop truck. It's a 6.2L gasser XLT 4x4 with 3.73s. It's payload is 2393#.

I'll add pics of the other EcoBoost models when they come in.

Yes that F150 will see some HARD use. The K9 guys go to all of the "hot" calls, and they like to get there FAST. The back seats will be ripped out, a cage put in, and the rear doors will get remote openers. If there is a better test of the durability of a vehicle, I don't know what it could be. Stay tuned for updates

I'm pretty sure in my city they use Chevy Tahoe police packages. I've seen these accelerate...they seem to move out quickly.
