You might also try to get on a forum for your breed, and ask those questions of other owners.

Since you asked, NO, not breed specific, at least years ago.

These are quotes from literature from Good Sam ERS years ago. Do not know if they are still that crazy.

see Page 6
“Vehicles NOT COVERED by the Good Sam RV ERS program include but are not limited to:
· Utility vehicles, animal trailers and vehicles used to transport show animals
No benefits or services are provided:
· In connection with driving or riding in any other vehicles other than membership owned vehicles.”

Page 3 lists the vehicles that may be covered
“Self-contained Motorhomes, Travel Trailers, Pop-up Camping Trailers, Fifth-wheel Travel Trailers, Toy Haulers, Van Campers, Pick-up Campers, Automobiles, Vans, Pick-ups, SUVs, Boat Trailers, 2-wheel Tow Dollies, Motorcycles, Vehicles specifically designed to tow fifth-wheel travel trailers.”

So note they DO NOT cover cargo trailers, car haulers, flatbed trailers, any vehicle used to transport show animals, or a car you might borrow while yours is unusable. Also it clearly states it only covers ONE RV, a warning for those who have several.

We got our RV to travel with the dogs too. But my wife enjoys training our Standard Poodle (a rescue). This year she is looking to enter him in a PCA trial in MD.
The RV parking quoted from the PCA website:

"Overnight parking in the paved lot at the rear of the Civic Center is permitted only for self-contained motor homes & travel trailers from 6:00pm SUNDAY through 10:00am SATURDAY, for a flat rate of $110.00 without electric & $170.00 with electric, regardless of time of arrival and/or departure. No parking will be saved for late arrivals. Limited electrical hookups are available on a first come, first served basis. Civic Center personnel recommends bringing at least 300' of electrical cord. Potable water is available on-site. Tank-pumping service will be available during the week for an additional charge. RVers are responsible for their own trash/refuse removal."

The event is at the Civic Center in Salisbury, MD. I am sure the city fathers would rather people stay at the local hotels and PCA is doing everything it can to help the people that travel with their dogs. But I gotta say I would rather be with Link (the Poodle) in the woods.

They are not denying coverage based on the fact that you have a particular breed of dog, or any dog for that matter. They don't deny coverage to people taking their pets with them on vacation.

They are denying coverage because they consider using the RV to transport "show animals" to be commercial use of the vehicle.

For clarification, why don't folks take this portion of the thread up to the Good Sam section?

I've started a new thread under "Roadside Assistance" but considering it a "commercial enterprise" is completely inaccurate. It's also bad business as they are significantly cutting out a huge portion of RV users.

I'm loving all these answers, thank you. I'm going to a show in Harrisburg, PA at their farm complex and it's $106 for the three nights and they can't guarantee they'd have enough hook-ups. If you don't stay the whole 3 nights, its $45/night. If I shared the motel with my friend, it would be $73.50 for the whole stay. So maybe this show is more expensive than others. Anyone have a Fairwind Chateau and have input, good or bad?

I would pay the $106 to stay close to the show in my own "home". I have found the most motels that allow pets are not in the best condition. Also, Does the $73.50 include the additional charges for having your pet?

When someone says, "I'm not book smart, I'm street smart." All I hear is, "I'm not real smart, I'm imaginary smart."

No real comment on the price but did want to let you know that there are really no other options reasonably close to the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. I believe they are talking about being on-site here so you'd be no more than a few hundred yards from the buildings, depending on which doors you had to use. Anything else in this area will be at least 5 miles out.

Yes, that price was with a nice new Motel 6 that was rated highly and had microwave/fridge and it would have only been $6 extra total per pet over 2 pets. It would have been cheaper because I would have split expenses with someone. BTW, it's a Four Winds, not Fairwinds...brain hiccup. LOL
