Kwikee lube is white lithium grease.

Not even close. Kwik lube comes out very, very thin, in order to penetrate, but then gels to a much thicker consistency.

What ever is used, I would start with something like WD40 or b'laster to free the step and clean rust from lack of maintenance, then lube with what ever (I like Kwik Lube and Chain lube, and have always had great luck with Dri Slide as well).

x2 on the blaster. You need to penetrate the rust first.

I'm with Eric, I don't think there is enough clearance in the pivot points for white grease to properly penetrate. I think a heavy type chain oil or garage door type spray lube would do much better. For grease to properly work, you need to get it to where it must work, thus we have zerk fittings. Spraying it all over the outside is useless.

For me it's P Blaster, soaks right into the rust and breaks it free. I do this twice a year and never a step problem.

I spend the winters in a very high salt area. To stop the steps from rusting, and keeping everything moving well, I use ATF in a spray bottle on everything except for the step pads. Even then I put a few little drops so it will spread out and make everything look like new.

Very simple, gets rid of the rust, and works very well.

Prior to this I used bike chain oil on the pivots.

Dad always told me if it don't move like it's supposed to, spray it with WD40. It it moves and it's not supposed to, Duct tape it. If either of those situations don't work out, get a big hammer. 95% of the time, he was right.
