You didn't try to use a rechargable battery I hope. Some (all?) of those put out a lower voltage even when new.

I thought I read that smoke detectors had a a useful life of about 7 - 10 years.
I can attest to that in our stick and brick. And of course the ones that go bad first are the highest and hardest to get to.

Are you sure it`s a smoke detector and not a carbon monoxide detector? I know CO detectors are only good for 7 years!

Blow the dust and cob webs off of the sensor. That may clear up your problem.

As mentioned earlier, I think it is your carbon monoxide detector that is chirping. Usually, if left in cold weather (ie storage)and the trailer gets cold, they will chirp every minute or so. With no heat, the cold temp prevents them from operating properly.
Suggest simply remove batteries...stops chirping, then reinstall them when you start to use trailer, or weather warms up.
That's how mine works, and device works fine when we use the trailer.

X2 Smoke detectors works like an indoor air cleaning machine. It inoinzes the smoke (particulate) to activate the alarm. Give it a good cleaning inside and out.
