You will have no restrictions on either Hwy 1 or 101 through California. That said, you may have some issues with the campgrounds. Most California State campgrounds in Northern Cal are older and therefore designed with short rigs in mind. This applies to Hwy 1 not 101. We've traveled 101 north and south many times with no problems....beautiful drive....even much better through Oregon if you happen to hit one of the days when the sun is shining.........Dennis

We've driven from WA to CA on 101, nothing really major bad. Hwy 1 on the other hand has some pretty scary spots. I'm not sure I would do that part of the drive in the coach again. If I did, it would have to be going North instead of South. We did it in the 40' Mountain Aire towing a jeep.
BTW, 2nd on the Waldport location. A great place to stay a few days.
The best way, IMO, if you're going north to south, is to get off I-5 at Burlington and take SR20 to Coupeville and then the ferry to Port Townsend. It avoids all the heavy traffic and poor road surfaces of I-5 through Everett and Seattle, and also eliminates that long trek north again to get across from Portland to Astoria. It even saves some mileage compared to taking SR12 west from Olympia.
With your length of rig, 101 won't be a problem, at least down to the California border. Can't comment on anything further south, as we haven't been down there for 40 years or so!

We would love your imput in this tentative route for our 36ft Class A with Porsche is tow...Route 1 from Santa Monica with stops in Malibu and Santa Barbara then 101 up to Templeton then over 46 to San Simeon (Hearst's Castle) I am a little unsure about 1 from there up to Monteray...I hate cliffs..but is it relatively an easy drive for us or should we double back and take 101? After that we go inland to Tahoe then 86 to 5 heading north?
