I was watching the Daytona 500, (I know I know, it's been a while ago now) and saw them cleaning the track with Tide. Well, while I was working one day I got to thinking. I wonder what Tide would do as far as cleaning the outside of my fiberglass camper. Has anyone tried anything like this? They sure seemed to get the track clean with it.

It leaves a dull film...I use "Turtle Wax Car Wash" that you hook up to a hose. It leaves the surface of my RV nice and shiney.
You can find it from time to time at the dollar type stores. I stock up on it when I see it.

Not only will it leave a film it will remove any and all wax you may have spent hours putting on.

Tide is much to harsh and will strip off any wax you have on the trailer. Use an RV wash available from any RV dealer or Walmart. It's a thick liquid that you add to the wash water. You can add about 1/2 oz of Dawn if the trailer is really dirty. Additionally, use a black streak remover where needed. Hand wax the trailer every spring and fall.

Any detergent that is formulated to remove grease will strip any wax you have applied to anything. Tide, Cheer, Dawn, Cascade etc. are too harsh.

I use "car wash soap" the cheapest out there.

I use an automotive type car wash usually one of the wash and wax types. While it is no substitute for actual waxing I do like the result they give.

I guess I didn't quite finish my thought. My trailer is oxidized and dirty so I was thinking if it would make my life easier to get it down to where I need it to get to where it was deep clean so I can buff it out. Sorry for any confusion.

There is a color restorer for that. It's used extensively with boats. Check with a marine supply store.

You wouldn't use car wash to wash your clothes so dont use laundry soap to wash your trailer.
Use a wash/wax formulated for your car. If its safe enough for my truck and car, I know it wont harm the finish of my TT.
I always use a wash with the wax already in it. When drying, I use those wax-as-you-dry products. Eagle-1 and McGuires makes a good one. Just mist it and dry!

Stick to car/RV formulated wash. Dish/Laundry soaps are WAY too harsh.
