Lived in MN for 25 years and spent a lot of time up along the North Shore (Grandman's Marathon many times, Ed Fitz 50K 4 times) - and going back for 4 nights at Penmarallter Campground this summer - never been there. Thanks for the tip on Betty's Pies! :-) Then over to Walker and Itasca area for a few days. Great country - in the summer!

Think about Birch Lake NF campground off Minnesota 1 south of Ely is really nice. Lots of room between sites and lake views. There was a hand pump for water the last time we were there.
