I used to be a loyal BP customer - my card gave me a 5% rebate on gasoline purchases; and since the closest station to me is a BP, I charged a lot of gas.
Now they have some confusing program that theoretically gives you an instant rebate-per-gallon; or a credit that undoubtedly is far less than I HAVE been receiving? But the part that frosts my hiney is that the instant rebate only applies to purchases of 20 gallons or more. While I will take advantage of this in the motorhome - my daily driver only has a 17 gallon tank. I suspect anything smaller than a truck or a full-size sedan has a gas tank too small to take advantage of this "great" deal :-( and you'd better be running on empty (fumes) when you pull in, too.
On edit - even large sedans like Impalas or Tauruses have fuel tanks smaller than 20 gallons. It seems like you need to go to a full-size truck or mega-SUV to use that much gas.

Our Winn-Dixie has a bonus program that offers money off/gallon depending on purchase amount of food/goods from store. There is a 20 gallon limit in this case, so when wife's tank gets low enough I go to Shell with extra portable gas cans a get my 20 gallons even though her car might only take 14 gallons. The gas in the cans goes into MH tank.
Will be going tomorrow and be getting $1.00/gallon off and then 5% additional off because I'll use either Discover or PenFed card.

Actually, that's backwards. The rebate is good for up to 20 gallons or less.
Here's the quote:
Rebates used to lower your price per gallon of gas at the pump are good for a one time fill of up to 20 gallons.

I need to read the details. What is SOUNDED like when I read the blurb is you get 15 CENTS off of $100 worth of gas. That would lower the rebate level from 1-3% to 0.15% (a factor of 10 LESS). That can't be right. If it is, then I won't be using the card anymore. I have several cars that give AT LEAST 1% (if not 3-5%) cash back.

Krogers sells all sorts of gift cards to restaurants, stores and Southwest Airlines. Since I fly alot I buy the Southwest Cards as well as several other restaurant cards and I pay for them with a credit card that offers a rebate. Krogers will then double and in some cases triple the points and will allow you to receive up to $1.00 off per gallon of gas so I routinely pay $2.60 or so for gas plus I get points on my credit card to boot.

I re-read the email and you're right. Ooops.
BUT: a couple of weeks ago, I went to fill up at my BP station, and the pump asked me if I wanted to use my rebate? I told it OK - and it automatically set itself for 15 or so gallons and a $60.00 total price. Weird, I thought, and since my tank wasn't bone dry, I was pretty sure I couldn't pump that much in the tank so I canceled the transaction.

It has been standard practice for gas stations offering a "Bonus" program to limit it to "Fill ups of xxxx or more" (either dollars or gallons)
I still remember going to the Exxon station.. They had such a program on fill ups of I think $3.00 or more.
I walked in and borrowed the gas can (remember when you could do that) hiked back to my car (just a block or two) drive in and returned the can, filled the tank the rest of the way and STILL DID NOT QUALIFY for the bonus.. They gave it to me anyway. .
Now days $3.00 would not even fill a good size lawn mower.

The up to a $1.00 a gallon rewards discount at Safeway doesn't have a gallon or dollar limit. Pretty good deal for us.
