Have never had a TT only PUP. We are planning a trip with no sewer hook up. We did buy a a holding tank rinse rod. What are the steps to dumping Grey and black water tanks? May be a dumb question and many may think it goes without saying but all new to me.

Guessing follow steps below with gloves on:
1. Pull up to station
2. Connect drain hose to dump connection
3. Connect drain to TT
4. Open black water valve
5. Let waste drain
6. Rinse tank
7. Open gray water valve
8. Rinse gray water tank
9. Close drain valve
10. Disconnet drain hose from TT
11. Raise hose to drain into dump station
12. Rinse drain hose
13. Disconnect hose from dump station
14. Store drain hose

I've done so much with so little for so long, I'm now qualified to do anything with nothing.

Add 2 caps or 1/4 cup of calgon to both tanks before filling and as mentioned fill black tank as much as you can before dumping, and away go troubles down the drain....

I"d recommend you NEVER leave the black tank completely empty. Always set it up for next use (even if the RV will be in storage for months before it's used again). There will ALWAYS be some remaining solids left in your tank and NOT setting it up with a few gallons of water and chemical (your choice) will allow those solids to turn to stone and be next to impossible to EVER remove. It can lead to future clogs and odors if they're not kept soft by adding water.

It's really not necessary to rinse the gray tank after dumping since most of what remains would be grease and not likely that cold water will remove any of it anyway. If you take the time to rinse ALL of your tanks you'll be meeting some new "friends" in the line behind you

Good luck / Skip

Sounds overly complicated.

Dump the black tank; dump the grey tank; rinse and stow the hose. Things like "open the cap on the dump site waste receiver" are implied...

Gloves? You plan on spraying stuff everywhere? You're not touching any waste if you do this right.

2 and 3 are reversed. As you'll find out the hose just stuffs in the drain hole, it doesn't "connect" or "disconnect."

Do steps 6 and 8 ("rinse tank") when there's a line at the dump site and you'll be very unpopular. Yeah, plenty of obliviots do this which is why it takes hours to get out of the campground on Sunday. Just dump and clear the area for the next guy. Add some water and Odorlos after you're clear.

Note it is not necessary to dump the black tank until it gets full but if you gotta dump the grey you may as well dump the black first and use the grey to rinse the hose. Hot soapy water does a nice job.

Yeah, agree here. Rinsing takes time. Only do this when alone and nobody waiting.

Closing the valves is something I tend to forget.

You may be doing it right, but who knows what has been sprayed around the dump station by people doing it wrong. I keep a box of disposable latex gloves handy and always wear a pair when dumping. Toss 'em when done!

Tell anybody who objects to your rinsing, “thank you for your patience." There is no rule against rinsing. Do what you need to do to properly maintain your rig.

That said, there are very effective ways to rinse super fast. I recommend filling a 5 gallon pail (or two) with fresh water while you're waiting your turn in line. Pull up, drain black until empty, then dump the buckets down the head to flush any remnants. Finish the process with grey as the others advised.

Using a bucket in this way adds maybe 2 minutes to the job, even less if you have a family member help. People who have a problem waiting 2 minutes have....a problem. Good luck, and have fun!
