I drive safely with the flow, usually 10mph over and only if good weather.

I do believe that if the 'fast' speeders received a few tickets in the mail at the end of the month they would slow down. Photo Radar comes to mind (best thing ever invented - you speed you pay).

I just hate it when I watch people speed then 'tailgate' just to get someone to pull over and when they do it is too late because the speeder is now speeding around them and blocking them from changing lanes.

Modern times have created some more modern problems: 30 years ago it was normal to stand in line for 10 min. Then plastic cards turned 10 min into 10 seconds. Now if you stand in line for 2 min it is upsetting to many.

I believe that if you are an aggresive speeder (I said aggressive) that the courts should impose an automatic GPS on your car / truck and monitored for speed infractions by a simple computer program. Like a house arrest ankle bracelet.

Like many have said, we have the right to speed but we do not have the right to place others at risk.

IMHO

I used to be of the mind that my reflex was faster and that mydriving skills better than most. That was a justification to go faster than the rest. I now know better. My reflex not as good but my experience is far greater than before. I stay right around the spped limit, stay out of the fast lane except to pass and try to maintain a flow with the other traffic. If I find myself in a speed pack I hang back and let them go on. If I run late I call ahead and inform those that are waiting for me. Tickets are expensive but you can recover poor driving that can result in death or injury is not acceptable.

Someone driving 10 mph over the speed limit is a lot less dangerous than someone driving the speed limit, holding up traffic. I drive what the traffic is driving to keep from getting run over. If you get passed while you are in the fast lane, move over, regardless of how fast you are going, the speed limit or 15 mph over the speed limit. "Lead, follow, or get out of the way." That is the safe way to drive.

I also find it funny for someone or anyone pulling or driving an RV to complain "about other people" wasting fuel."

When I taught my two daughters to drive, I told them that following to close was far more dangerous that speeding.

I was about to make a statement, but what the heck, if those who can't read speed limit signs probably won't read this either.

I believe the saying is "Anyone who is driving slower than me is a moron, anyone who is driving faster is a maniac"

I think you miss the point. No, I am sure you miss the point. The idea is for all of us to drive more efficiently, regardless of what we are driving and for whatever reason, to conserve a valuable resource.

If you feel RV'ing is a "waste of fuel", then maybe you should find another pastime.

The problem here is just plain arrogance. You feel you can use fuel any way you choose, and that's okay, but others need to conserve.

I find this confusing. I don't use fuel any way I choose. I use it the most efficient way I can.

There are many ways to conserve fuel other than not speeding. I check the tire pressures routinely, maintain our wheel alignment, eliminate unneeded items from our load, take routes that avoid large grades, and avoid a heavy foot.

I believe your statement says more about you than anything else. In your posts you say you speed because it is your choice, but other's driving habits annoy you and should be changed.

Go figure.

Here in AZ there are no driver points or insurance for anything less than 10 over the posted limit. There are very few places specialy on the highway or interstate where any law enforcement officer is going to waste his time writing you a ticket for less than 10 over. Therfore the real speed limit becomes 10 over the posted. Thus on I-10 you can run 85MPH all day long. There are exceptions in some of the metro areas but speeds are usually much lower there anyway.

Wrong! Check the ADOT site here for a list of points per violation. You will find that speeding is listed as 3 points, period; no exceptions are listed.

The reason for the 10 mph "buffer" is mostly to allow some slack for inaccurate speedometers. There are times that buffer is not applied. Several years ago, DPS was issuing tickets on the 51 in Phoenix for being only 1 mph over the limit because of the rampant speeding going on. School and construction zones often do not get that buffer.

Just because you can get away with something doesn't make it legal or right.

Come on now.......... "DPS issuing tickets for 1 mph over the speed limit"...I don't believe that. I was a traffic Motorcycle Officer in Montgomery County Maryland for over 23 years ( retired in '95)& wrote thousands of tickets to folks that warranted them, but NEVER wrote someone a ticket for 1 mile over the speed limit!! Most guys (including myself) would give a "tolerance" of AT LEAST 10 over the limit before pulling someone over (maybe 5 in a restricted area like a School Zone) but NEVER for 1 mph over. Where did you get that information from I wonder??

Rossey, I also spent 28 years in law enforcement and a couple of years ago I would have said the exact same thing as you said here. No way would any cop write a ticket for 1 mph over the limit. Then a friend of mine, also a law enforcement officer, got a ticket on the Freeway in Utah by the Highway Patrol for 1 mph over the limit. I wouldn't even believe him until he showed me the ticket. I simply couldn't believe they would do that. I asked my friend if he told the officer he was a cop and he said he didn't simply because he couldn't believe somebody would write a ticket for 1 over and he wanted to see if the guy would really go through with it. He did.

Yip, I really love those drivers doing 60-65 in a 55 zone going right thru my school bus stop arm while I am loading/unloading kids. It's thier road, thier time, while on thier phones, or texting or other wise not paying attention. To me speeding or what ever you want to call it is just as dumb. JMHO.
