Now i am looking at a 2001 Roadtrek with dodge 318 with 80k kilometer/50k miles ,
It does not have a generator . I plan to do prob 35% boondocking /walmart sleeping .
How important is your built in generator in your class B ? Could i get away with a Honda 2000 generator on the back bumper

You can get away with the bumper mounted genset.....but there is a security question, with that, but I doubt that you will have problems.
Do you have a roof-mount A/C unit? Will the 2000Watt genset be enough to run it, or do you not plan to run the A/C.?
The advantage of the built in units, is that they will run off the vehicle fuel tank, so you don't have to bother with it.....

Honda generators have a way of wandering off unless locked down. My old b-van has a 2.8 kva generator to run the AC. I understand the new AC's will run off a 2 kva generator.

Thanks PaPPappy for your answer . yes it has roof air and from time to time i hope to use it but we live in the Maritimes Canada and it does not get that warm here often . The generator comes in handy for wife's hair dryer , Microwave and sometimes running the fridge . ( wife is nervous of propane fridges as we had a fridge fire before on another camper . We have not bought this Roadtrek yet but thinking it over . It is 6 hours away . There's is not a lot of used ( well loved ) Roadtrek for sale in our area .

There are only a few roof A/C's that the Honda eu2000i will be OK for. My 2K just barely supplies the wattage to run my A/C. If I want the microwave at the same time I have to use the battery BU and inverter for the MW. I sometimes turn the A/C to fan only and use the MW.
If your RT has a spot for a 2.8 Onan that would be my choice. You may find a used one reasonable.

I have a 2002 Dodge. The A/C unit is a 8,000 btu unit. My Honda EU2000 powers the a/c with no problem. Just get a large cable lock to keep it from walking off.

I was planning of using a hitch basket and making somekind of a box with a vent on both sides . The thing would be locked there pretty solid of course .

Since you don't have a spot for an inbuilt, I'd probably recommend you making what you said -- a locking hitch basket with good ventilation. I'd highly recommend adding some fans, because airflow is so important -- not just to run the generators, but to keep them cool. Some people don't factor this in, and the generators end up overheating.
As for generators, I would recommend a parallel kit and two Honda eu2000i models. You can even get an extended run tank for these, so you can boondock for days on end with the generators running for the A/C and battery charging.
I don't remember the link, but a poster here made an enclosure setup that holds both eu2000is, the cord to the parallel kit, and the extended run tank, and the enclosure looked like an aluminum tool chest -- out of sight, out of mind when it comes to thieves for the most part.
Just make sure to keep the generators secure... get handle reinforcers and use a security chain and not a steel cable.
