Hi, I'm still a newbie at this so if someone could please help me out on this would make me feel a lot better? I hooked up the weight reduction system for the first time and started driving off and made a turn sharp turn all of a suddent there was a really loud sound like metal bending so I stoped and looked and everything look like it was fine. My question is did I hooked up something wrong and damage something or was that sound from the bar adjusting? Also do I need to remove the bar when parking? Thanks

What brand of weight distribution system do you have?

To be honest I don't know. I got it at the dealer so I didn't bother to ask.

I would hope they would have included some type of paperwork or manuals for the weight distribution system. That being said, there are quite a few topics posted on the forums about this. I found one from back in December but I swear there is a newer one - I just can't find it. Hope this helps.

My Equalizer will scare you to death when I make a turn. They do that sometimes!

Sounds like an Equalizer to me too (long, square bars with no chains). Nothing to worry about if it is. They all pop and creek because it is a friction system. A little embarrassing, yes, but nobody in the campground cares.

My manufacturer said to use grease on the ball and bar couplings. I did. No creeking or popping.

My best GUESS would be that you are using a single friction bar as an anti sway system. When they are new (and any time weather is damp or wet) you get this kind of explosive "gun shot" type noise the first few times you make a sharp turn. It really can't BE anything except a guess without knowing what you're using. Noise is the trait of a friction based system.
