You might want to do a Google search for `______ tourism' and put the States in the blank that you will be passing thru. They will have lots of information to review.

The Blue Ridge Parkway would be a very scenic route to travel, with lots to see and do. Unfortunately, all but two of the National Park campgrounds are closed until sometime in May. (The exceptions are Linville Falls - about MP 315, and Otter Creek - about MP 60. Both open the first week of April)
There are some road closure on the Parkway, until summer. I believe all of them are south of the intersection with I-77.

Hey gbopp you overlooked the site of the Johnstown Flood that killed thousands and Happy Valley where Joe Paterno used to coach in your proposed Pennsylvania tragedy tour. No doubt Gaetan would head with relief to the Yuengling Brewery and drown his sorrows : )

Savannah GA has a great trolley tour and night ghost tour. Charleston SC also has a lot of history. Gettysburg PA. If you like auto racing, Charlotte NC has 2 things: the racetracks and the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Museum and interactive exhibits. Also some wineries in NC that are "ok".
In Virginia, stop at Luray VA. (search www.rvparkreviews for 2 good parks) and take the Skyline Drive and see the caverns.
Check www.nps.gov for more history sites and parks.

When traveling North bound pass thru the bridge tunnel at Norfolk, Virgina. Travel on US 13 till the US 113 cut off and proceed till signs to Assateague Island National Saeshore. There you will find a campground overlooking the sea, wild ponies will wander thru your space, eagles, sea birds, deer both white tail and sitka will easily ge seen. Just North of Assateague is an interesting seaside resort, Ocean City with good restaurants and boardwalk for a stroll. Assateague is one of the most unique National Parks in the USA.
