Help I went to cut the the lexan to cover my screen door used the finest jig saw blade I could find and the lexan cracked.

Hi Empire,

Something does not sound right. Did it say GE Lexan polycarbonate on the label?

We put real 1/4" Lexan in a press break at work and bend it 90 degrees and it does not crack....

Now plexiglass will crack looking at it sideways... The 1st camper I used plexiglass and snapped a panel in 1/2. The next camper I used real lexan and even sawed it with my radial arm and saber jig saw using a fine wood blade.

Here see my post

Lexan Screen Door Panel Mod 101 (Lots of pics and long)

Good luck and hope this helps

I use a metal cutting blade, the more teeth the better, and I find it works faster and cleaner cold, but hot it tends to melt its way through the material.

Couldn't have been true lexan. I have cut lexan in a pinch with a blade designed for trimming tree branches in a sawzall, 50 miles into a trail in the Canadian woods.

Hello, First of all why are you using that to cover your screen door?

Believe it or not, I used a hack saw blade. Worked for me.

I just used an old plywood blade in my circular saw (forward, not backwards) and it cut .093 just fine last week.

After having the big box store cut mine to size, I rounded the corners with a band saw, then smoothed them with a belt sander. happy-2, it's awesome to be able to leave the door open on those crisp mornings or hot afternoons without losing all your heating or cooling. I went the next step and added a magic mesh screen door. Now I have a door, storm door, and screen door.

Now back to your regular programming.

To keep the cool in but still have the big door open to be able to see out.

Or to protect the screen from pets.
