I've seen several topics about LED bulbs in the interior of the RV. I know what LED bulbs have done for flashlights and I'm excited about upgrading my RV interior with LED bulbs.

For those of you that have done it I have a couple of questions:

First where did you get them? If you got them on line a link would be awesome.

How much were they? Anyone find a great deal?

How many did you buy? Did you replace all your bulbs?

The bulbs I've seen have been very expensive and I've spent a lot of money on my rig in the past month. I'm wondering if I will get a good return on my investment.

Thanks,

Rick

If you ever camp without electricity available, they are worth it. Otherwise, not.

We got ours from LEDtrailerlights.com. We just got the bulbs that fit into our fixtures, not the whole fixture.

We also like the heat reduction factor, since we are both tall and hate the heat from regular bulbs.

I replaced two to start. I was so impressed I ordered six more and they are great as well. I ordered from Ebay at a crazy low cost like under $6 per panel. I believe they were 24 LED panels and plugged right in with adhessive backing. Went right in to the existing fixtures. A bit of trouble getting the wedge style adaptors to make good conection. So far they seem to be a win win giving amazing lite at less amperage consumption. I will work on gettin a link. Not sure how to do that.

We looked at LED bulbs for our Roadtrek at several booths at a large RV show. There are bulbs to fit just about every fixture. Fixtures with the usual small florescent tubes can be replaced with strips of LEDs that connect to the bulb's sockets with connectors on wires or with LEDs in replacement tubes that connect just like the original tube does. They are all very expensive. They were running about $40 and up for a single bulb for the florescent replacements - and all of my fixtures take two bulbs. Yes, they will last a long time and there is less of a drain on your batteries when not connected to a 110 v power source, but you can replace the standard bulbs many, many times before it comes anywhere near the cost to replace them with LEDs. No one was giving any deals - at least at this show - and they were all hot to make a sale.

You can replace all or just a few, but to what end? If you want to reduce power drain when camping on battery power, then you really need to replace them all - and then, really, how much power is being saved?

Thanks for cleaning up my attempt at a link. My main reason for changing to LED was the quality of lite. Power savings was second reason as we dry camp about half the time and often the kids will leave a lite on. They could all fail by end of summer . Who can say? So far very happy.

Hi 1775,

About 75% of the energy is saved by using led vs incandescent. For Fluorescent it is a "wash". Nearly identical power consumption. However fluorescent doesn't enjoy cold weather much.

Hello all, I replaced all twenty bulbs in my RV with LED some time ago.
First, they are not expensive.
Second, make sure that they are in the warm range unless you enjoy stark white / bluish light
The link above Oasisbob URL) is for the same LED as this one except that the price here is less than half the price: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=12V+DC+24+SMD+3528+5050+T10+Car+interior+Dome+Door+LED+Panel+Light+Bulb+Lamp+New&_sacat=3270&_odkw=24+5050-SMD+LED&_osacat=3270&_from=R40
It's $3.19 delivered instead of $6.48

Next, pianotuna, your energy saving info is way off. A 60 watt incadesant and a 11 watt fluorescent emit the same light so it is definitely not "a wash" but over a 80% energy savings
LED's vary but usually save well in excess of 95%+
