Have a 2003 Jayco Qwest. The front gear are a manual crank. The right one cranks out faster than the left. They are uneven now. The right one is out about 6 inches farther than the other one. Not sure how this could happen or how to correct it. Any advice appreciated.

Isn't there a release to allow them to drop to the ground before cranking them? That should self level them before each use.

It is not the adjustable end that is uneven but the part that actually cranks into and out of the frame.

Which one is uneven? If it is the right curb side one, could possibly be a pin sheared, and it is just friction allowing it to turn a little, and not keep up with left side.

Like Dr Quick said it is the shear pin on the left side as you are looking at the trailer, The best way to fix this is disconnect the crossbar between the two jacks by taking the pins/bolts out on each end then you can adjust the leg that is lower/higher to corrospond with the other, you can then replace the crossbar useing grade 2 bolts of the size needed just use lock nuts so they want come loose.
Hope this helps

It is the passenger side (right, curbside, camper door side) that is out further. The handle is on the driver side (left). I am not sure if one is coming down faster or they are just misaligned. The connecting bar seems fine. Could I disconnect the bar between the two legs, crank the left one out the same as the right then reconnect it? Just bought the thing did not notice it till I got it home. Thought not having an electric would be one less problem.

Yes you can just disconnect the bar and turn one until they are the same length, reinstall the bolt and nut and your good to go.If over time one gets longer again, check the teeth on the gears.Usually the top cover just pops off.

Just a quick question - why would you use a Grade 2 bolt on anything that has a shear action? At 74,000 psi minimum tensile strength they are approximately 50% of the tensile strength of a Grade 8. That myth, if that's why you suggested a Gr2, that Gr 8 bolts in shear fail easily is just that

Because the shear pin is a protection device for the drive system. You WANT the pin to shear if there is an overload.

Shear pins act as fuses. Better to break a .29 part then a $50 part.
