Just knocked out a bunch of maintenance and was wondering if anyone knows a ballpark of the dealer's cost for the following:
Oil/Filter
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Rear Diff w/synthetic
Tranny spin on (or, maybe they insist on the full service?)
The truck's an 06 6.6 diesel... thanks for any info.

About three times what it would cost you to do it yourself.

about $110 shop rate per hour.
+ add ons like "shop supplies," tax on labor, etc.
+ dealer mark ups for fluids, parts, etc.

If I take mine in to local dealer it is almost 30% more than the dealer 20 miles away. Here is what they charge:
Tranny: $179
Tranny Filter: $30
Rear Diff: $150
Transfer Case: $150
Front Diff: $150
Fuel Filter: $109
Coolant Change: $160
Look online, you can get the filters and lubricants for much cheaper, do it yourself, and save a bunch of $$$.

This is about what I'd expect....
I'd guess oil/filter in the $80 range.... also I'm intrigued by te $30 tranny spin-on. I got quoted $40 to buy the filter from a dealer.
I go thru fleetfilter.com (NAPA stuff) and get fluids at Costco or NAPA.
As best I can tell I spent about $120 on supplies and in a couple hours, knocked out $400-$500 of work from the dealer.
I've actually taken my truck to dealer for a few things... coolant drain/fill for example was $79.... I couldn't buy the fluid for that. I also took it in for the tranny "flush" at 40K to keep the warranty in effect. Now I just do drain and fills and am not really a fan of the "flush".
I could afford to take the truck to the dealer for these things but just can't justify the cost with how easy it is.
As I get older (and hopefully richer), who knows.... maybe I'll just take it in and quit crawling underneath. It's funny though... I actually like doing it and, time wise, I'd have to be sitting in the dealer waiting room drinking watered down coffee and waiting anyway so why not just do it myself?

The air filter at the local dealer is $89 and you install yourself. You can buy it online for $39.

Doubt that's with a TES-295 certified fluid, but to each their own...

I asked about that since I thought it was a bit low. I was told they buy it by the 250 gallon tank. He said if I wanted it from the 5 gallon jugs it would be $250. He took me back to the diesel service area, and there was a 250 gallon tank that has the Allison Approved label on them, as well as the Transynd label. They service a lot of diesels in there, mostly MDT's and pickups. Everytime I have been in there there are more diesels in there than gassers, and the diesel servicing area is probably 10 stalls, the gassers have 6 stalls. I will take it from the 250 gallon tank for the cost savings. Not sure why anyone would take it from the 5 gallon and pay more.
