I read an advertisement about TT roofs being coated/replaced with rhino truck bed lining material. Never heard of such a thing. Does anyone have first hand experience with that process? I've did do some searching on other sites and a place in Florida uses a Dupont similar product but the cost is over $9,000 for a 30' TT and I can't imagine someone spending that kind of money for a roof replacement. Other concerns were the weight of the material on the roof and how good would it contact with the current roof or did the current roof have to be completly removed to the wood surface. Anyone know someone who has actually had their roofs done this way?

I asked my a local truck and stuff type dealer about his spray on Rhino material on a large 8" x 20'-30'+ RVs roof. He gave me this deer in the headlight stare and made several comments. His first comment was why would anyone want to add that much more weight to the RVs roof. His second comment was "your kiddin' right".

Did he say how much actual weight the Rhino material would add?

I can't see applying it to a TPO or EPDM roof but a fiberglass roof, well maybe. As far as weight - I can't imagine at 1/16 to 1/8" thick it would be that heavy.

8 lbs a gallon. Even if it took 4 gallons, once you spread that out over the roof the weight wold be minnimal.

Your home fridge weighs more than a typical water bed per sq foot simply because of the WD. Its the simple principal.

I do not but had a friend who had his motorhome coated with bed liner (I have no idea which brand) and spent the rest of the time he owned the RV chasing leaks that were NOW almost impossible to locate. Anyone that does this needs to be absolutely SURE they have no leaks when the coating is applied. Also be sure you get a product that has color choice. He put black on his RV which turned it into an oven YOu can kiss any roof warranty goodbye also so not a great idea with TPO or Rubber.

Wouldn't flexing cause cracks? Rhino isn't flexible is it?

I think the wieght of 8# per galon would be less when the liquid has evaporated from it.

I know that the Inyati bed liner that I had sprayed in my last trucks bed was pretty flexible. The bed and wheelwell sustained some pretty good dents from loads and the liner just conformed to the new shape.

Done right, this is a interesting idea. Done wrong, it could be a nightmare.

Not sure that it would be any more cost effective though.
