I used to carry loose bills in my pocket...but found that I occasionally lost some...so I stick them in my wallet...but not in order.
I carry my wallet in my front pants pocket...why would anyone want to sit on one ?
I don't carry many bills anymore...usually about $ 100 worth...about four 20's, a 10 and a 5....just in case....I'm stuck out in the middle of nowhere and some business doesn't use credit cards...or the computers for credit cards are broken down.
Mostly I use my credit card.
I only carry one credit card and use it for 99 % of my purchases. That way I can see on a monthly basis...what I've spent...where I've spent...where I need to reduce, if at all.
Coinage...I do carry on my person. A couple of twooney coins ($ 2) and a couple of Loonies ($ 1)...with a smattering of quarters in my jean's coin pocket.
I'm retired now...so generally just wear jeans...not suits, sports jackets, formal business slacks as I did when I was working.
I usually use the coinage for car washes (wand system)or to use a shopping cart....that's pretty well all.
I think I have the perfect system...money wise. I also carry a debit card, but rarely use it....as I keep my books through my credit card monthly statements.
Carry my debit/credit card and sometimes I have as much as $20 in bills. Works for me.

I rarely have over $40 in cash, normally less. A few coins, toonies, loonies and some small change. Always in jeans or shorts but have never used the 'change ' pocket. wallet is in front pants pocket unless I have a jacket' then it is in inside pocket. I never quite understood why anyone would carry a wallet in their back pocket!
I don't believe in astrology. I am a Gemini and
we're very skeptical.
Geeze, I had written out how I carry and deal with my money. then I read it before posting. glad I did. tells people too much and sounds like bragging.
I carry my billfold in my hip pocket. Been doing it for 60 years, no way I could change now. Besides, I have other "stuff" in my front pockets.
I go to the ATM and get 60 or 80 dollars about every two weeks. Mostly for visiting garage sales. Those folks don't accept plastic, and few will accept a check.
We are trying to get credit cards paid off, at which time they will be put away to be used only in an emergency. Basically, that means if there is money in the bank, we can spend it. If there is no money left, we stop spending. Cash, check, or debit card only. No deficit spending.

As a note: I attended a meeting with a police expert on pickpockets. He suggested that, in crowds, you should always carry your wallet in your left front pocket. Front pockets are harder for pickpockets than back pockets. And left front pockets are tougher for right handed pickpockets. No guarantees, but if your pockets are harder to pick than those around you...
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Makes sense. My MIL used to budget monthly by putting cash in envelopes.
There was an envelope for groceries, for car expenses, etc.
Once the money was spent in a particular envelope....that was it for that monthly expense.
If one is consistent they can budget quite effectively this way.

I'm married. I don't carry near that amount. What little I occasionally get to carry usually disappears pretty quick. Funny how when we are together and she sees something she wants she has no cash, and wants me to buy it for her...

I'm married too. But when my wife asks me if I have any money on me...I reply...sorry, just plastic.
But then I break down and ask her how much money does she needs....I can't hide anything from her.
I up you one by saying I have kids. So no money in my wallet. I put everything on cards and get some substantial rebates.
As for pickpockets, my wallet has a chain on it that connects to my belt with a carabiner. If they can take that off of me without me noticing, they can have what little cash I carry.
