How many of those are active? I noticed this site doesn't show member stats like most sites on the main page.

I don't really know. I guess there are a lot of folks who join and drop right off.

For many of us this is not just simply a forum site but a rather a hobby too.

... Eric

Kinda how I view it.

In my experience after a few years there usually is a less than 10% active member base on most smaller forums like this one.

I don't know just when the forum was started, but the RV.net domain name was first registered on May 14, 1996.

Joined a while ago and it was much smaller then. The same questions get rehashed all the time. So, now I stop by every month or so instead of every day.

Yeah - I noticed that pretty early on. The interesting thing is there are often new responders with new and exciting answers.

I joined in December 2000 and am usually here 3 or 4 times a week.

The forum has been great and a lot of smart, caring people show up on a regular basis to share their knowledge.

I do remember that early on things would get nasty at times but the trouble makers got weeded out and the subject of RVing prevailed.

Thank you to the leaders of Affinity and the moderators for keeping things rolling.

Quote from an article at FundingUniverse:

"In 2000 the company launched RV.NET which provided information and links of value to RV owners."

Anybody got a 12 year old copy of Trailer Life?

Sorry if this post seems long, I lacked the time to make it shorter.

I think a lot of those 300,000 members have joined, asked their question, and never came back. In my local chapter, and friends who RV, I am the only active member of this forum.

I have been here since 04 under another user name. When the economy got bad around here We got rid of the RV and went a couple of years without visiting at all, then I started lurking around again and finally last winter we were fortunate to be able to get another RV and I joined again but I could not remember my user name so I just started over.I am glad to be back and hope to be here along time. but I am the only one in our camping group that is a member here. wills250psd

You know it's slow when the elders sit around chewing the fat.

So... who's gonna start the walmart camping war to liven the place up?
