Hello everyone, on my 1969 Coachmen Trailer. Behind the fridge there is this louvered door.

Now I understand that is ventilation for the fridge. But I'm trying to figure out how to keep wasps and stuff from flying in there (I'm thinking a screen of some sort. And what about when it is rainy or during the winter times when I will be out camping. What can I put up to keep the cold and wind from coming in?

Thank you
Jim

I just put screen in mine. No more dirt dobber nests. I do not RV in cold or snow, I stay south. Sometimes it gets cold here in Southeast Texas but not like up north. I really do not think cold or rain will bother your frig.

How did you attach the screen to the louvered door? I was wondering about winter time and the cold air coming into the trailer and making me cold?

Thanks

Some screen material but nothing that will stop air flow.

Winter, spring, summer, fall........air MUST flow thru there & out the top vent in order to remove 'heat' from cooling coil & supply combustion air for gas burner.

Cold wind should not be entering the inside of your rig thru that vent area. If you are getting drafts from around fridge then you need to recaulk the fridge/trim area inside the rig.

Do NOT block the air flow around back side of fridge.

Thank you. But how do I attach the screen to the metal door? I don't think I want to use any screws.

Thanks

This may be 2 bad ideas, but here goes. 1. Hot glue the fiberglass screen on the back. Lay the screen on then run a bead of hot glue and push it into the screen with a putty knife while hot. 2. I have some really strong double stick tape. It might work too. Sorry that's the best I could quickly come up with.

Use fiberglass screen, cut it to size, then on the back, lay a bead of sealant, I used polyurethane, then push the screen into it and through the screen. A little messy, but it works. I also did the intake screen on the water heater.

Hi,

Actually cold below freezing *can* damage the fridge.

I used hot glue to hold aluminum screen in place. Same on the water heater vent.

I did it on my pop up with gorilla tape and it held the 18 months I used tha camper and was still on very good when I traded it in. A strip running around each side just like a picture frame. Make sure to clean the area very well first and then dry it or let air dry. Mine lasted from Apil 2010 until I just traded it in. I checked it beofre I traded it in thinking I would redo it but it was as strong as the day I did it so I left it alone.
