Quote: If you go to a class A,we will be loosing some of our entertainment. I love to watch someone set up a 5th wheel,or TT,usually gives me a good hour of fun watching the show. However, switching to a class A is going to cost you a lot,in maintenance, and operating expenses.
And in many cases you still have to hitch up a trailer but only after LOADING it first. That can also be a lot of entertainment
IF you're struggling that much with your set up you sure need to do SOMETHING different. Either have someone show you how to set it up (once) and never have to mess with anything again, or maybe a motor home WOULD be easier to learn. Good luck with what you decide to do.

Bet he does not own one.
Stow water, sewer and electrice hoses, new bat wing does not retract
Hit 3 buttons to bring slides in
Hit button to take up levelers
Put in gear and go.
Yep its tough
Your correct, but my parents did and what do you do when you push the button and the levelers dont come up or when 3 outa 4 do but one dont. or when the brakes on the p30 chassis fail every other trip. granted not everyone has a p30 chassis but alot do. Are you forgetting your towed? yea I thought so.You have to hook and unhook that dont you? I was offered the unit FOR FREE when my mom put it up for sale but there is to much that goes wrong with that particuler unit. I said no Ill keep my 30 TT.SO you may win your bet I dont own one, but if you underestimated my judgement you are wrong.Besides that, we went to a Rv resort in FL and the people with A's must have been to good to camp with us TRAILER TRASH so they had there own gated section LOL. Thats not to say everyone with an A acts like that I know they dont but there are a few that think because of there vast financial means are better than some of us that are not as fortunate. Was that you I saw through a gate in florida? LOL wills250psd
There is no question a nice Class A is great. With our present coach with three slides we wonder why we waited so long to get one. Oh-now I remember--it cost more (-:
If not for just how BADLY most trailers are built, I would own a trailer instead of a bus. Liz and I could pack up & hook up or set up camp with my old Holiday in 20 minutes.

I have had both, Hooking up toad 5 minutes, no biggie, With a trailer it seems like i did a lot of do I want to go thru the hassle of hooking up, getting the unit out of the spot back in the spot. We do a lot more spur of the moment camping in Motorhome. It's also nice to be self contained (Generator).

Monaco Diplomat, Cummins, 38a
Toad Grand Cherokee, Brake Buddy.
This is a great thread. I just bought a class A for the same reason and I hope I made the right choice.
Now I have them side by side so I can compare them. 1995 Holiday Rambler vs. 96 Monaco Executive!!!
If you think hooking and setting up a TT was a hassle, look at what I had to do. A TT does not have a generator, much less a good diesel generator like a class A DP does. So I had to tow TWO trailers and set that up. I LOVE that HR TT, but what a pain in the rear for all that set up and break down and towing two trailers.
BTW... The light tower is a 3 cylinder Mitsubishi diesel, great power plant for my TT.
I like the look of your Monaco. Congrats on your class A. I will own a Class A one day. I can't afford anything that's model year starts with 2 anything. Most likely it will be 1980's or 1990's model. I'll just have to wait and be patient for the right one.
I know it sounds crazy but I love the look of the Mid 80's Allegro motorhomes, I have seen them with the Tag axles (really long) and they look awesome.
I have the skill set to work on the more primitive technology of the older coaches, so that doesn't scare me. However, like anything else, water damage does.
Thanks!

Go for what works for your situation best as that is what we do. Have neighbors that went from Class A to Class C to 5er, and finally are the most happy with their current set-up, a truck camper go figure. We personally have our routine down to a science so if you want to watch us set-up, don't go get a beer or you'll find the show over when you get back. No matter whatever mode of RVing floats your boat, they all have their pros and cons regardless if we are willing to admit them or not. Enjoy your Class A!!!

Now thats funny,
I don't recall saying I hated Rv'ing, LOL... I love it very much. Just trying to figure out the best way for me and my family to enjoy it.
Thanks!

Get rid of those chains and get an Equal-i-zer hitch.
Don't know exactly where you live.... but Newby's RV Sales in McMinnville did a perfect job setting ours up. All we have to do is back up, hook up, snap up the bars, and the WD is done. Of course there are still the emergency chains to hook up, but that is trivial.
EVERY RV has to be levelled up and stabilized at the campsite.
From what I have read on here about all the technical problems people have with Class A's, I would not have one, unless I had someone to maintain it for me.
We have a pretty basic travel trailer. I think basic comforts are the best way to go. Much less to go wrong that way.
