We recently purchased a 2004 New Mar Kountry Star with an 8.1 Chevy Workhorse engine and would now like to get a vehicle to tow behind it. What vehicle make the best toads? Thanks for your response, Jonlin

Jonlin,,,,You are going to get a lot of answers to this question, are you going to tow 4 down(car on it's own wheels) or a Tow Dolly. A tow dolly with brakes would be a solution to tow your present car if it's front wheel drive. If you purchase a car to tow 4 down(per manufacturer) you will need a base plate to attach to the car and a tow bar to connect to the RV. You will also need a/an brake set up for the towed car. A limiting factor will be how much your RV is rated to tow either way.

You could get dozens of suggestions. Find something as small and light weight as possible that will service you needs.

We can't tell you what the ideal vehicle is for YOU, and not sure us telling you our choice is of any relevance.

You need to determine if those vehicles on your short list are towable 4 wheels down OR if you are willing to use a tow dolly OR buy a drive shaft disconnect or transmission pump.

Certainly, the lighter the vehicle that you are happy with and that requires the least "fire drill" to prepare for towing is the best answer.

If you are a member of FMCA, here is a link to what is towable 4 wheels down for the last 10 model years: http://www.fmca.com/motorhome/towing/204........wing-guides-towing-four-wheels-down.html

On a recent post on this subject...I found that ALL MANUAL transmission newer model KIA's are towable 4 down without modifications, restrictions, speed or duration. Just a tow bar. I Imagine all Hyundai's also, as their transmissions are the same.

Another bonus is the Hyundai Elantra, KIA Rio, Hyundai Accent can all hit upper 30's to 40 mpg when not being towed!

And they all come new with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

the "best" is very subjective. however, i would think the "best" toad is one you can flat tow without modification or any time, distance or speed restrictions.
