I don't know of any other way to describe the scum of the earth. People that are out there trying to steal everything we all have worked so hard to have. Has anyone ever been harassed or held up while traveling???? Any rest area problems?
This day and time we all have to watch out for each other on the road. I am not really paranoid but we do stand out when we are driving or pulling an RV.
Just thought I would bring this subject up under beginning RV since we are newbies that haven't even left the driveway yet....Soon though.

Never had a problem any where we've stop or camped in 35 years. You just have to know your surrounding and we have always stopped with or where there are other people.

Been camping/RVing since 1972 NEVER had not ONE PROBLEM. That just us.

In the past we have a couple of panhandlers come up to ask for money for "car repairs". Hasn't happened when we parked with the trucks.

Caught two kids raiding camps once. They seemed glad the officers showed up after about an hour and a half. We were boondocking but lots of nearby campers. They thought they might leave before the nice officers arrived but they sat back down when the group just kind of formed a circle around them. They were grabbing fishing poles and things. We have been going to this same place for over 30 years and this is the first time we have had an issue.

Between my parents and us we have been camping 60+ years, since the early 1950's. We have NEVER had any theft, harasment, problems, etc. during our campouts. I feel much safer camping than walking around downtown. IMHO campers are much more trustworthy, helpful,courteous and polite than the general population.,

Actually I must admit to some thefts at a few campgrounds. Peanuts, and a few other snacks have been raided by squirrels and other 4 legged rodents. Course, in a few cases we had encouraged them by feeding them before hand.
