Only thing i have to share on this topic is an encounter my boss had.

He had his 5th wheel parked out side of his business locked up with a for sale sign on it. Mind you the business is on a highly traveled road across from a school. Well one morning our warehouse manager noticed a few gentlemen exiting out the door of the camper. Turns out they had broken in from the get this, the fantastic vent weeks before and had been staying in the camper nightly using the front door they were able to unlock from the inside. Ended up causing over $1000 in damage to the camper.

I think the intercity thugs will feel out of place out in the countryside. No side alley to run away into, no trash dumpsters to hide in, just lots of open desert, and hunters all around armed to the teeth!

No I don't think thugs like camping all that much, and I like it that way!

One thing that I always carry with me is "situational awareness". Things can happen to you if your mind is elsewhere, whether fueling up, walking to the restrooms at a rest stop or sitting in traffic. If you're sitting around the campfire and someone approaches, get up and meet them before they enter your comfort zone. Bad guys count on surprise, but will pass you by if you see them first. It's mostly a wonderful world out there, so leave the driveway with confidence and enjoy it. Just be aware of your surroundings. Good luck and safe travels.

Never had a problem but am always prepared. Someone flashed a handgun in their waist band while trying to rob my best friend while he and his wife were in Georgia. My friend was putting his Glock in the trunk of the car when they were leaving their hotel. The guy threw his hands in the air and screamed and ran away when he wound up with the Glock pointed in his direction.

I have a concealed handgun permit too. I always carry a second 2 hand gun when traveling plus an unloaded shotgun with shells handy during hunting season. Since I work night shift I have learned to look at my surroundings constantly while moving around outdoors. I have been approached at stores by pan handlers but keep my distance from them. I have spotted people stalking me a couple times and they have turned away when they saw I had spotted them. When pumping gas I am always looking around too and if the pistols are in the truck and not on my person I have my left hand on my Bic lighter in my pocket until I can open the cab door if it is closed.

Thank you guys...Keep em coming. I guess that lets a lot of people know that there ARE those people out there and I will not stay in my 'bunker". I will go out head held high with my Sig and 1911.

Nope, no problems and we’ve been full-timing since 2008 and camping for over 40 years.
Had it before, but after working as campground hosts for the past few years, you can spot those campers who just may not be right. If your instincts are telling you that something is not right, most likely something isn’t.
Racking a 12 gauge or dropping a magazine slide (even on a empty firearm) tends to make the creepy-crawllys go away.
And,FWIW, I’m not bad but DW is a better shot then me.

I've had the little bandits rob me. There is a reason they wear burglar masks.

Never had a problem. However, if the occasion does arise I am certainly ready for it. Always!

Take it easy. Just be aware of your surroundings.
