My experience with tools from HF is that they are more than adequate for the average person, they are not intended for heavy duty usage. Invest in high quality, top of the line blades instead.

I personally won't buy anything with a cord or a battery at Harbor Freight. Many people have great luck, but just as many have bad look with their power tools. Sure, the store will replace the tool, but how much time are you going to waste on that and eventually the warranty will run out.
If you're trying to frame a house with their miter saw it would probably work fine. Any sort of woodworking or anything that needs accurate angles not so much.
I bought the cheap miter saw from HF about 10 years ago. I think it was about $30.00 on sale. I made 32 cabinet doors for the house with it and all the angle cuts for a 16 X 32 ft. barns rafters. I don't think I could ask more from a tool. It's still going strong. I did buy a good Craftsman blade for it.
When I was working towards getting my A&P license, I bought a 3/8 capacity reversible air drill from HF. Over the next ten years, that little drill motor drilled literally thousands of holes in aircraft skins, stringers, and frames. It finally began being a little weak, especially when drilling larger than 1/4 inch (F drill), so I traded it to the Snap-On man for a Blue-Point drill motor.
It wasn't long before I was wishing I had the HF drill motor back! The Blue-Point just isn't as good as the HF unit in several ways. Size, power, Handling ease, etc. I still have the Blue-Point, because I would lose too much money if I sold it!

Bought one 2 years ago, the laser line never worked (more then 3 seconds), 4 months the brake failed. When you let the trigger go, it spins close to 30 seconds before finally stopping. Works fine, but a MASSIVE safety issue.

If you take it back and explain the safety issues to them, they will hand you a brand new saw......
