I called my parents yesterday to see when they planned on taking the camper out of storage. They told me they went to put some items in the camper at the storage lot last week and it wasn't there. It turns out the spotted a staple that wasn't in all the way or something along those lines. I didn't have time to get into it with them.

Anyway, the camper is brand new and only used 4 or 5 times in the fall before it's first winterzation. The storage lot called Jayco to see what they wanted to do about the situation and we are still waiting to her back on that.

That's all I know at the moment. Does this sound like it could be a big issue? Any ideas on anything?

One staple "not all the way in."
Doesn't sound like a big deal to me and not worth hauling it back to a dealer for repair.

If it is just, "a staple," I'd gently tap it down and cover it with a dab of Dicor or a small strip if Eternabond and get on down the road.

(or am I misunderstanding your post?)

That sounds about right from what I can gather. I tried calling my parents before so I can get a better understanding but I had to leave a message. The camper is still at the winter storage lot/dealer. The dealer must have noticed the staple when doing the yearly roof inspection. When I get more info I'll pass it along.

If the staple penetrates a location where water would run over it, yes, big deal. If it's inside, then no and tap it in gently.

I have the same "problem" on my Komfort. There is a slight bulge where underneath the rubber roof a staple did not fully sit down onto the wood below. I am afraid if you try to tap it down it could pinch the rubber between the staple and the hammer. As long as there no sharp edges I would leave it alone.

How in the world did the STORAGE lot get involved with the trailer repair? Seems to me if they moved your parents trailer without their knowledge there is a HUGE liability issue involved. A whole lot more than a loose staple.

Good luck / Skip

It's a dealer with a storage lot.

It's an easy fix for a competent dealer

"It turns out the spotted a staple that wasn't in all the way or something along those lines. I didn't have time to get into it with them."

Where was the staple? In the roof? If so, that's about a 2 second fix with some dicor or EB tape as noted above.
