Sounds like a dealer with a real interest in his customers to me. OP said that it was the DEALERS storage lot where he store his CUSTOMERS units. Some of you guys are flaming a dealer that follows up and is showing some ongoing concern and interest in his customers. Should be sending him thank you and appreciation cards.

We're still new to the RV scene. My parents said it was the process of doing something to the roof that should be done once a year. That's when the dealer noticed the problem. The dealer contacted my parents about the problem and also contacted Jayco since it's still under warranty. The dealer wanted to see how Jayco wanted to handle the situation before doing anything.
My parents couldn't give much more information. My mom said she thinks the staple is pointing up and didn't close. She said it was at a seam and that the dealer said it wasn't a big problem. That's all we have to go on right now.
If I get out of work early enough tomorrow then I'm gonna hit the lot with them tomorrow to see if we can get a better understanding.
Sounds like the dealership was doing a roof inspection on the trailer and noticed and took action since they knew it was under warranty. Now all you folks that were flaming the dealership apoligize ;-)
OP- Make sure you let us know how this turns out and give us the name of the dealership. Many would like to do business with a dealership that takes that kind of care of its customers.

We actually didn't purchase the RV from this dealer. We bought the RV at the Pennsylvania show in September and drive it home. The first time the RV got taken out the shower backed up on the last day. It turns out the tank meters were broken. The wires underneath were chopped. We took the camper to one local dealer and they refused to work on the RV even though it's under warranty. (It appears it' a common problem). We took it to the current place and they worked with Jayco to fix it under warranty. That's why we chose to store the unit at this place instead of the first place that refused to help us.
They said it wasn't a big deal and that it happens from time to time. I believe the plan of action was to place a piece of wood over the staple and then hammer it back down.

That sounds like a good plan. Just seal it up with something, but they probably already know that.

You might not even need that. Those EDPM roofs are a lot tougher than most folks realize.
