The common GC-2 golf car battery is a deep cycle, one of the few that is easy to find, Sams has 'em, Some Costco, Sears can get 'em.

Now in 12 volt formats,,,,,,, Deep Cycle is harder to find, I would think SEARS can get 'em but they are more likely to be very high cost AGM than way lower cost Flooded wet or Maintenence free.

NOTE: The comments on the life of the batteries are per battery maker web sites. (Life as described in number of cycles).

And proper maintenance is needed for best life on ALL batteries.

Simplify your typing and be more correct: Forget "Deep Cycle". it is hype. Use "cyclable". The golf car battery is far and away more cyclable than any car-jar flooded "RV" battery.

None of those stores will have a true 12v deep cycle. It is a marketing term.
Get 6v golf cart batteries.

I don't know if you have any of their stores in your area but Batteries Plus out here in Colorado has a good selection of true 12-volt deep cycle batteries. They are expensive, however.

Our Costco sells GC 6v batteries that are 220a these are deep cycle. They have them branded as Kirkland but they are sold by Interstate, built by Johnson Controls. I learned this from the Interstate dealer here.

I bought 2 - 6 volt deep cycles from Sam's club and only got less then 2 full years out of them. I contacted a local battery shop and those lasted for 5 years until I sold my motorhome and they still had great capacity. BTW, same price as Sam's club. It has been over a year since I sold the coach and the current owner and I talk frequently. He told me that the batteries are still going strong.

I checked my battery info I keep with my trailer paperwork and the last time I needed new 12V true deep cycle batteries I called and talked with a tech rep at Johnson Controls (888-853-6884) to find out where to get true deep cycles. I was given the following info:

Part or model no.s

Napa - 8301
Napa - 8302

Walmart 27DC-6 (Group 27)
Walmart 31DC-6 (Group 31)
Walmart U1DC6

There were more but I did not write them down. I was told the Walmart's above were true deep cycles and if the Walmart no. had a MS in lieu of the DC in the model no. it was a hybrid marine starting battery. I think there was a third set of letters in lieu of the DC lettering that were not true deep cycle batteries but I don't remember what it was.

Advance Auto Parts has a 12V group 27 that I think is probably close to being a true deep cycle. I don't recall the part number, but when I was researching last year, it weighed about 10 lbs more than the same size deep cycle/starting battery at O'Reillys. My impression is that true deep cycles have more lead in them. The Advance Auto one was about $10 more than the O'Reillys.

All the plates are thick in true deep cycle batteries. Starting batteries are all thin.

Marine starting/deep cycle hybrids (dual purpose) are thin and thick alternating plates.
