Yeah I found it after beemerphile1 post. Its not mentioned in rvparkreviews.com and its not a state park etc, so it was just the kind of thing I was looking for from people who may know the area.

thanks

I agree with Beemer, Can't go wrong in amish country...Let the kids experience the culture, it will be amazing to them..they have an actual farm you can tour..there is baylor beach in navarre, oh on the outskirts of Amish country, its a small cg, but a lake for swimming...Or if you like nice, evergreen is a nice one too...let the kids read up on the Amish before taking them so they can really get an idea of what they might experience..take the backroads, you are not going to see the real mccoys on 39...the amish schools are like walking back into little house on the prairie...if you catch it right you will see children actually WALKING home from school with their bookstraps and they are just to sweet....It just sounds like for that age group CP would be an expensive day for such little ones, its a park with mostly rollercoasters, I cant see kids that age getting that much use out of it just yet....JMO...

yeah CP isn't on my list, with one parent especially.

We homeschool and these trips are an important part of that so experiences outside and seeing things like amish country and historic sites are top of the list.

We are going to kelleys island after we pick the wife back up, still sorting out the time while shes busy. there is a ham radio convention in columbus that saturday and one of the kids may go take their test.

Decided instead of doubling back we will go through the michigan peninsula and around through wisconsin and iowa towards home. Ambitious for a family only having been on a few dat trip at a time so far.

So like I said above, heading to Kelleys Island SP for a couple nights after we pick up the wife, then across the peninsula to Muskegon SP for more beach and touring the WWII sub there, the son has been modeling and learning about WWI ships. Then back across and north to Hoeft SP for more beach and maybe the Mill Creek Discovery park. We will then only have Lake Ontario the kids will be short to have swam in them all. Across the bridge and maybe the soo locks and the falls, then down through Wisconsin.

Still coming together, both while the wife is busy and the last few legs of the trip. Circus world and the like in wisconsin aren't attractive options either for us. So at some point we will just make a run for home. We don't know what to expect for how long a day we can handle in the truck, 6 hours is about all we are planning for at a time,

Thanks

Take a look at Pleasant Hill Lake Park (http://mwcd.org/places/parks/pleasant-hill-lake-park) as well. It has a lake and a nice beach (for Ohio). It isn't too far from Amish country either.

It isn't a state park or a private park, it is run my some other entity. But is has a state park like feel to it.

seems reviews about the AEP campground are all over, from great to people trolling around stealing and mooching stuff off campers.

The AEP lands are the only thing we have in Ohio that is sort of close to legal boondocking (aka free or nearly free RV camping) and it is fairly accessible (no high-clearance, no 4WD), so it doesn't surprise me that there is a wide range of experience.

Yes, I think the Amish area around Millersburg would fit your family well. We had a trip planned there recently but cancelled it. Those amish country websites meantioned earlier will be helpful. Make sure you check out about Lehman's General Store.
