Your going to find that it's illegal and if caught will cost big $$$$$ from not only local laws but I'm sure the EPA will get some funding out of you also.

Get an macerator type sewer attachment and run the garden hose into the bathroom toilet if you don't have access to your city drain.. Just done dump into the ground. Unless you live out in the country on a farm.

We are connected to the city sewer system and I located the clean out and installed an extension and cap that I use each time we come home from camping. Although many of the camp sites we use have dump stations, I like taking care of it at home where I am not rushed and can ensure that everything gets cleaned out well.

We had to switch to a LIFT STATION and abandon our Septic Tank. When I installed the LIFT STATION...I added a 2" PVC pipe from the RV pad to the LIFT STATION --- a 90' run. The terminus is in a buried valve box. I use a 6' section of reinforced polyethylene tubing to connect my Flojet Macerator pump to the underground pvc pipe. It works GREAT!!!

We do a variety of campgrounds...some with Full Hookups...others without. We find that Dump Stations are a good way to get rid of weight...but we like to do a thorough flush of the tanks when we get home. There have been times due to long lines or inclement weather that I've just forgone the dump station all together --- and use my hookup at home.

I've got electric and water poles out by our rv pad too... If the County wouldn't get their feathers ruffled --- I'd add a picnic table, catv, pedestal grill, and a campsite number marker and have a regular campsite in my back yard . Unfortunately, they prohibit "setting up housekeeping" (occupying an RV) by their zoning ordinances.

Basically a small/simple sewer. Is this a crazy idea ?
Add some river rock and it's a great idea. It works perfectly and there is no need to add chemicals. It will start on it's own. Just keep in mind it's a 55 Gal drum so don't overwhelm it.

I am on city sewer. My cleanout is in the basement. I'd like to get a cleanout installed outside. Anyone know what that might cost?

It is a really , really bad idea , and illegal most everywhere I would think, to dump in the ground no matter where you live, even in the country , if you can't hook into a municipal system or your own septic system , try to find a municipal sewer treatment plant near you. many have dump stations for RV's and the cost is minimal compared to campgrounds.

I have contemplated putting in a "septic system" like a friend's that would be just for emptying the camper. He has two 55 gallon drums plumbed together and buried in a hole of stone, with a leach pipe leaving the second drum. The rv tank gets dumped into the first tank, most solids drop to the bottom liquids flow through a 4" pipe near the top into the second drum. Once that fills the liquid flows into the leach pipe into a short leach bed. WOrks just like a regular house system.
