I would seriously consider a macerator pump before installing a small septic system that may be illegal.

I added a new 3" septic line right into my septic tank. It did require some digging and trenching, and boring of a new hole in the fiberglass septic tank for a dedicated line. The resulting sewage line is about 50 feet long. I also have 30 amp and water, so I have full hookups at home.
We probably dump at home 75-80% of the time.

My neighbor did his for under $200.00, including a permit. He has a Class "C" and he backs in next to it and dumps. He also allows me to back in and clean out my tanks when I winterize.

I would recomend a plastic drum. The steel ones rust out pretty quickly. The new industrial plastic ones hold up pretty well. For the p police. If I p outside is that a violation.

"Some type of container in the ground with holes in it to drain and a lid/opening for the dump hose and maybe adding bacteria."
This is essentially a septic system. Sounds like it will work to me. My neighbor did the same thing with a 55-gallon drum. Technically you would need a permit and people "never" do things without permits.

Thanks for the feedback gentleman. I'm a long way's off from having the pad area ready for the TC so I will continue to research this issue. Along with the legal portion.

We just dump it on the ground in the back yard. The smell goes away pretty fast after it dries. The flies take care of the rest. WTH, all animals, bugs, birds etc poop. Are they hooked up to a sewer system.
Full timing it since July 2012 My pics

Septic systems need ground that will "perk" - if the soil is a high clay content the liquids won't percolate into the ground.
It can contaminate ground water and ruin well systems - and there are laws that require a certain distance from septic to well.
It won't add value to your property and if it fails, could cost you dearly.
All that aside, the two barrel system would work better.
And a better system is, like others have done, connect to an existing sewer/septic system.
