Curious, what would total price for six new Firestone tires installed, including all taxes and fees, to replace Michelin LTX M/S LT225/75R16E tires?

I would go to a Michelin dealer and have them inspect your tires. They are only 4 years old and you say only 7,900 miles on them! They should be good for at least another 2 to 3 years. If they are unwilling to do anything for you then look at other tires, Hancock I believe is Chinese if that means anything to you.

I wanted something with an off-highway tread pattern as we desert race and often drive at least some 'two track' roads getting to the pit areas. I went with the Cooper AT3's and love them. It feels like I get less sway than with the stock Michelins that were on there.

In Dec I paid about $900 for six Firestone Transforce mounted and balanced. drove 800 mi tires rode and handled well.

Hankook tires are made it South Korea. I would never have bought them if they were made in China.

I just bought 6 new Michelin LTX 2s to replace the cracking LTXs on my RV. So far, only driven them home from Discount Tire (about 30 miles), but noticed that they ride much better than the original LTX and are much quieter.

I've read numerous posts about tire date codes, & I get it, but, REALISTICALLY, what is the newest code I should expect to find at a local dealer, can I expect to find codes of 0412, (4th week of 2012), or will I more likely find a code of 2011 ?

You can realistically expect a 2011 date code. I was told that some dealers will try to sell much older stock.

Last week I bought 6 Hankook tires from Discount Tire with a date code of 4911 which translates to early Dec 2011.

We purchased a 2010 Fourwinds class C in August 2009... the tires,
Michelin tires LTX m/s lt225/75r16, were made in June 2008 and the E450 chassis was a 2008 model...We just had to replace our tires after 4400 miles due to sidewall checking...Like you, I was surprised about the need to replace tires so soon...We replaced them at a local Ford dealer for BF Goodrich Commercial T/A's..which they claimed had better sidewall construction and were more suited for trucking/Rv type applications...
