I am looking at Cumberland Falls State Park on Parkers Lake. There is a campground there called Eagles Resort. Is it worth staying for 3 or 4 days. It is a short distance off I-75 and am curious as to the type of road. Some times that state roads have steeper grades than the Interstate.

Thanks for any information.

Breaks Interstate Park is gorgeous. We go there all the time. The roads are country winding roads but nothing that would ever stop me from going. There are no real steep grades. If you cant drive those roads you probably shouldnt be pulling or driving what ever it is you have. If you like camping "away" from it all and enjoying mother nature its hard to beat.

Boonesboro is a good place to stop off for the night, but it not one of our favorites. The rock quarry next door is somewhat annoying if you stay on that side of the park. Not too much shade either. It is clean, I'll give it that

Daniel Boone National Forest has The Grove Campground and Holly Bay. Maybe 20 minutes off I-75. Water and Electric only. Both are great, shady spacious sites. Holly Bay has sites right on Laurel River Lake, and has alot more boaters staying there and can be hectic. The Grove is more layed back and quiet. We prefer it.

Corbin KOA is clean and nice, right off 75 but is a KOA so you can take what you want from that comment.

Jenny Wiley is a nice park also, but we didnt care for the lack of shade. There are some shade trees but its not like you are camping in a forest which is what I prefer.

None of these are up in the mountains, but as stated earlier there isnt really such thing in KY.

don't know what type rig you have but mine is a 35' motorhome. cumberland falls & eagles nest are on route 90. I don't recommend you using either one, route #90 is kinda narrow and has many curves plus the local residents drive like idots. I know this because wife has relations that live here. several years ago I pulled 2 injured victims from their car that went off road and hit a tree.
We only use the KOA in Corbin when we visit area.
You can come to the resort you refer to over two seperate routes from I-75. Check mapquest so you can see exactly what they look like. The northern route is a much better road than the one near Corbin; that being Hwy 461 to Hwy 80 to Hwy 914 to US 27 which runs to the resort you mention. I've never stayed at the Eagle Resort but I looked at it once years ago and was not impressed but it's OK if you like simplicity with no frills. The old road that leaves the main routes to Eagle Resort is narrow and curvy but has no severe hills. Thousands of people drive it every year to see Cumberland Falls which is only a short drive from Eagle Resort. The nearest real nice rv campground is on General Burnside Island State Park in Burnside which is about a 20 minute drive from Cumberland Falls.
