Mine came with a plastic liner in it from the dealer. (It was a freebe) I just cut out for the hitch rails and put it back in after the hitch was installed. Works fo me.....But your mileage may varry.......

I put Herculiner in the bed of my utility body about 5 years ago. I don't treat it nice and it's still in great shape, no problems with flaking, peeling, chipping, etc. I'm very happy with it. At some point, I'm going to Herculine all the tops of my tool boxes on the truck, since I walk on them often and wear the paint off.

I put a rubber mat in the back of my last truck (it had a shell), for less than $100 and was very happy with it. Stuff doesn't slide around and it is not a knee buster to crawl around in. bought my current truck used and it came with a ribbed plastic liner bolted in - what a piece of junk. It is miserable to crawl around on and everything not tied down slides all over. I may just yank it out and go back to a nice thick rubber mat like I had before.

Don't have much to add on Herculiner but I did have a Bedrug in my 09 2500HD. Very nice.

Keeping in mind that there is no one answer for everyone-

For the budget and use you described, (ATV and household use) I'd get a drop in liner. It will be cheap, will require a LOT less prep work, and will LAST.

I'm sure there will be folks that will completely disagree with me, but that is my 2 cents.

Since you brought up the drop in bedliner and have seemed to have had good luck with one, do they have a tendency to collect material, water etc..in between the liner and the bed causing it to rust? I have only had Rhino Liner's and this was one of the spray in liner's biggest selling point's. I have no experience with a drop in liner and wonder if you or anyone else for that matter has had bed damage due to a drop in liner. Thanks, Darrin.

I have the bedrug also and like it a lot especially when I have to crawl on my hands and knees.
