Don't sell the house until you've tried it for a couple of years. Full timing ain't for everyone. What sounds good today might be a crimp in your style tomorrow. We're not young but we've been living in our travel trailer for over 2 years except when we go home once or twice a month on weekends. I couldn't see having only this trailer to come home to for the rest of my life. If we were filthy rich it might be OK for an extended amount of time until we've see everything we wanted to see but then I'd still want a place to call home where I can stretch out and have a garage to put my vehicles in and a place to tinker with hobbies. In a trailer you're pretty much stuck with not very much room no matter how big your RV is.
The best thing about living in an RV is that you can move anytime you get fed up with your neighbors.

Actually I totally disagree with this comment! We've been full-timing for almost 2 years now and sooooo glad we don't have to worry about a house to take care of and deal with tenants and repairs. And who knows when you decide to "settle down" where you'll end up. Cut your apron strings and fly - it's a blast!!

X2 You don't know if you will come across a job in another area or simply decide you want to live somewhere else. You can always buy a house later but if you get sucked in constantly dealing with long distance landlording, it may ruin the experience.

inflt48 - Yep, definitely going to test any prospective traveling cat out before adopting, I went to school to be a vet tech and understand just how much cat personalities can vary.
snowdance - Yes, technology and the internet is whats going to make this possible, thank you.
PinkLeopard - Yep, been stalking that forum for months and finally introduced myself recently, they certainly seem like kindred spirits.

To op... we have been fulltime for 3 yrs in June. Started when I was 30 and wife was 25. We both finished our schooling, mba and bs degrees, worked for a bit to get footing while I established an internet marketing firm. I work from the road and we definetely have more than a few dimes to rub together. The full-time travelling and adventure lifestyle is the only way for us; 46 states during that time and we are ready to go back and hit them again. Getting ready to add a 3rd traveller to our party in July.
For me the ah-ha moment came while watching that tv show "House". The one character said to the other "life is simply a series of rooms with different people in each one. It is up to you to decide which room to hang out in." We decided to take our room on the road.
Will we do this forever? Maybe. Are we in a hurry to buy a house? Heck no! Why lock yourself into an uncertain tax and social services future when you do not have to.

I'd love to but DH isn't up to it. I have the ability as a Physical Therapist and would be able to take 3 month traveling positions at will. The biggest obstacle I would see for us would be home schooling. I wouldn't have the patience to do this with our kids. Power to those who can. Just have to wait for the kids to move out. Only 12 more years until that 6 year old is out of the house. We'll leave no forwarding address. Good for you who can pull it off.
