Put a gauze pad on it and wrap it loosely with the tape. That's what we did with our dog until we could get her to the vet. They just took it off, cleaned and treated her wound, and put a gauze pad and tape back on. Told us to clean it daily and cover it so she doesn't lick off the medicine.

Yes. The danger is that the skin will seal over and two weeks from now you'll be in the same place. Minimum she needs antibiotics.

I see. It continues to seep. The wound is high on her thigh. I don't think I can wrap it. I will take her in the AM.
Good day all and thank you for talking me through this. )

Coffee is great. We put warm compresses on her wound and then it broke open and rendered some nasty stuff. I gently encouraged it to come out. It seeped for a couple days and then stopped. I did not take her to the vet because I decided to wait and see if it began to fill up with fluid again. If it did I would then know she truely needed antibiotics. But it is healing nicely so far. It does not appear to be getting reinfected but if it does we will take her in for sure.
Thank you for asking.
