Just did my 1st winter in the RGV. I want to experience SW FL next year. I can't get down there until late January and would like to stay through February. I like to be near the water. Looking for recommendations. I'm willing to pay for a nice park. Where can I get into after arriving after the peak season has already begun?

You'll have to make reservations to get into almost anywhere at that time of year. Ft. Myers Beach has a couple of nice ones. Periwinkle on Sanibel Island is very nice.

With the price of fuel going up,they might not even be crowed next year.Even this year there were a lot of empty spaces in most parks.

There seems to be open sites but the problem is that they are the left over sites and not usually the best ones.
We spent a few weeks in the Keys at Sunshine Key Rv Park after Christamas (and are back now for a month) The Keys are a great place to winter..but extremely expensive. Another real nice place in the Keys is Bluewater Rv Resort...very nice!

You can come to a great park and be with me at Raintree RV Resort in North Fort Myers next winter. The people are great and will make you feel like family and has lots of activities. It is a 5W park. I came there in 08 when I retired and have been coming back ever since. Not far from the beach and cost of living is lower. Check out their website at raintreervresort.oom. Just a suggestion!

There are tons of parks in SW FL so there's a lot of selection but you might want to have an idea what your budget is. "I'm willing to pay for a nice park" is pretty vague - from my experiences, prices vary from about $30 to $100+/night. Your timing is not great either is many parks will be full for the winter by then (e.g. someone mentioned Periwinkle - I'd be kind of surprised if you can get a place there from late Jan to end of Feb).
It would also help to narrow down with your requirements. Do you want a park with a pool, spa, organized activities, tennis, etc? Do you want a lot of space? Do you want easy access to public transportation, shopping and groceries, etc? What are you staying in - there are a number of 'motorcoach resorts' that only accept Class As. "Near the water" is also pretty vague as there are lots of lakes, retention ponds, the inter-coastal and of course the beach and ocean and to some "close" is within 30 minute drive while to others, "close" is walking distance.
