Anyone been to either?

Is one preferable over the other?

I haven't been to either but am going to book one of these for next season very soon. Seems the Myrtle has that nice pier where Huntington doesn't but is a tad cheaper.

Please let me know how these parks are if you stayed there...thanks so much.

Want prettier and more relaxing? Huntington. MBSP is located near the airport and you will have more air traffic. Also, it's closer in to MB, so that may sway your thoughts one way or the other. MBSP does have a pier though. I've read online that MBSP has problems with Copperhead snakes and that they have signs stating it and not to wear open toe shoes. That might make a difference to you. Although some on here say they never seen any there.

We stayed at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle beach for a week and it was a really nice campground. They upgraded us to a concrete pad and closer to the water at no extra charge. We did however have to rent a golf cart cause that campgroung is huge! Loved it and would go back again. Just my 2 cents.

wow both sound like a good choice in a way...depending on if you want more into MB or more away from MB.

I have been to ocean lakes, apache, lakewood and mb travel park. have done each a few times but now I want to try the local state parks for a change.

copperheads, we have them home. haven't seen many but I know they are around.

thanks for the info. I might sway for that pier cause while hubby loves surf fishing, that pier gives me another angle to fish. that might be the deciding factor but not just sure yet.

appreciate the info!

Do you have to go to a state park? Have you ever been to ocean lakes? I have nothing against SP's but its hard to compete with OL's IMO. good luck

I prefer Huntington beach S/P if were going to the myrtle beach area. The S/P don't have all the amendities that the big 4 private c/g's in myrtle beach have. But for what it cost for 2 nights at the private c/g we can stay the whole week @ the s/p's.If you like fishing like me and my D/W does and don't mind walking 3/4 of a mile or so then stay @ Huntington beach c/g.The south jetty of murrells inlet is @ the north end of the c/g and Very good fishing! At low tide in early morning you can ride your bike out to the jetty. But once the sun gets up and starts drying out the wet sand my big butt can't ride the bike back!LOL We usually pull a lawn wagon with all our gear, plus a small pop-up turkey blind with a bucket. They don't have bathrooms out there and its alot eaiser for the D/W. Have Fun!

thanks mking
I didn't know the jetty was available in that area. great to know.

I am so on the fence with booking....so you know what? I think I will book both next season. A long weekend at MB and one at HB. That way I can get the feel for both of them. AND I bet I enjoy both of them

all great info posted. thanks

we have been to Myrtle beach many many times. We prefer Huntington Beach state Park. Not as crowded or noisy. If you look at the map of Huntington Beach, we prefer the sites at the north end of the park. They are very shady and quiet.

From the park you also have excellent access to the biking trail if that is your thing.

I also prefer the fishing from the jetty.....Very very nice and peaceful...............You have all the conveniences of groceries, gas, etc at both campgrounds.

Across the street from HBSB is the huntington gardens which are magnificent.

Have a great visit.

oh yes I heard about the huntington gardens and have been wanting to go.
North end sites. I will remember that. we are also the type to be out of the hustle and bustle areas.
