I am looking at upgrading my 2008 Jayco Eagle Superlight from 15" LR D tires to 16" LR E tires.

The rims on the trailer are 6 hole 225-75-15. The tires are Goodyear tires.

I am thinking about commercial TA or something like that.

so my question is how do I measure the rim. Tire Rack is showing a bolt patern. Is that the distance between 1 lug and another? What about offset? Will I have enough room between the tires?

Thanks for pointing me down the correct road.

Give one of the online trailer tire and wheel people a call. Trailertireandwheel.com is one that has a wide range of nice wheels specifically for trailers. Order the wheels and then get the BFG Commercial TA from your local tire dealer. To be sure take a tape measure and measure the original tires diameter , then on the BFG web site it will show you the diameter of each size tire. Pick one that matches as close as possible and you are good to go.

Here's a pretty good explanation on how to measure your trailer wheel.

A good source for tire/wheel related questions is at e-trailer.com. They show you how to measure your lug pattern. Chances are pretty good that your 6-lug pattern is what's called a 6 on 5-1/2" pattern but you won't know till you measure it properly. Once you know that you can look for wheels with that pattern, with basically the same offset as the originals. If you have 2" or more from the back sides of your tires now to any frame/suspension component, you should be able to fit the larger wheel/tire. Can't say about room between the tires as that is dependent on how far the mfgr placed the axles, but if you've got say 4" now, I think you'd end up with about 3" left, as an example.

i put the 235/85-16s that came with my 16" wheels on my jayco and found plenty of room between but i will not be able to tow it becouse they hit the bodywork when the suspension moves to much, it does move around fine in the yard. i am planning to go with 215/85-16 tires on it then i will have enough clearance to the body. tirerack.com has the overall sizes listed for tires. measure from the center of the hub to the body and double for the radius that you can use.

I replaced my 225/75 15D with 225/75 16E BFG Commercial TA they are exactly 1" larger in diameter and I love them, no regrets. Got my aluminum rims from shadowtrailer.com.

I replaced the 225/75 15D with 235/85 16E BFG Commercial TA's on a 07 JayFlight 28.5. I put the springs in the lowest holes and bolted on the wheels. Ran them for 2 years till we traded trailers

Not only a great rim but Trailertiresandwheels can quote you new tires at a competitive price. Bought 5 of these rims with BFG Comm. T/A's mounted, balanced, metal stems and delivered to a camp site 300 miles from home.
