Just a quick question. We had our receiver upgraded by direct TV and now when we set up we no longer have the beeping tones for satilite strength to here. Is there a way to turn this feature on?

Have had these type receivers for several years and haven't found any way to get them to beep.
You should get a meter.

Begs a question...the SD receivers had the beep. The HD ones don't. Are you saying you got a new receiver but not a new dish? Setting up HD is a new ballgame from SD.
It baffles me why DTV removed the beep. I asked them but they aren't answering.

One satellite and you get a beep, aim at two or three satellites and you would need two or three different beeps, one beep for each satellite that you found.

Having used both the on-screen display, by means of a portable battery operated TV at the antenna site, and that piece of junk you recommend I fully disagree with you.
The best... Dish Network's on-screen display, or a Bird-Dog meter.
The worst.. That in-line meter
DirecTV's is not nearly as good as DISH, but it's still better than the in-line meter
BUT.. That said.. YOU absolutely need to have the on-screen display AT THE ANTENNA SITE. so I use a portable TV for that job.

I use the beep from the Direct receiver and turn up the volume of the TV and open the closest window and adjust for the rapid beep. piece of cake.
