This is a pretty subjective topic... There seems to be a number of opinions expressed here that do not indicate their personal experience as a qualifier for their opinions. I bought a one ton diesel truck with a banks system. The power, fuel economy is much better than its predecessor which was essentially the same truck sans the banks system.

Based on my experience if I were looking to upgrade my torque and HP I would give Banks a hard look. I think that there are alternatives that may be less expensive.

I put the complete Banks kit on my '97 F53 460 motor and it made a huge difference in performance, but no improvement in fuel mileage. Still, was well worth the cost for my needs. If nothing else, it permanently fixes the exhaust manifold leaks caused by the original cast iron manifolds.

On older gas engines (460, 454 or early generation V10s) there is a decent increase in power that is quite obvious. On the newer V-10s, not so much.

Ignore any claims you hear about better fuel economy...not going to happen....

Whether it's worth the money (for power) depends on how much you really need (or want) the extra power....

This is an Internet rumor that just won't go away.
If you check the Banks web site, you'll find the newer 30 valve V10 actually get slightly better gains than the older 20 valve engine.

My main reason is to get more torque and HP. don't care about Fuel mileage.. my other concern is with me living in Colorado and losing power at high altitudes??

Lots of opinions from people who have no experience with Banks. I bought a 36' DP which already had a Banks Stinger package installed (along with a PACBRAKE exhaust brake) on a Cummins mechanical 5.9L and I like it. I'm not sure I'd spend $2k on a 20-year-old motorhome for it but the RV clearly has plenty of power on what is rated at 230hp (for a 22,500 lb motor home).

I also appreciate the EGT and Boost gauges which give me a good idea of what kind of work the engine is really doing and allow me to moderate what I'm asking it to do if it looks like problems might arise.

My RV, almost 20 years old, is generally up to 50mph before the end of the ramp onto the freeway and seldom gets below 45mph on the hills and mountain grades which surround me here in central WA state.

If I had a choice between a coach with Banks and one without, I'd sure choose the one with the package first.

Thorley long tube headers with ceramic coating is what I went with, custom exhaust and tbichips.com "towmaster" chip-but yours is carb'd so the chip won't work.

The headers will make a huge difference.
