I higly recommend them. They really help from preventig leafs and debris from building up on top of the slide out.

Never had them on the 3 trailers we have owned and never missed them. Just another item that needs maintenance. Cleaning my awning is a pita. Sure don't need more to look after and I see no reason they would not be magnets for mildue.
Takes 2 minutes to sweep any debris off slide roofs.

It REALLY isn't that hard to miss something you've never had. Again, depending on the type of material ones slide toppers and awnings are made out of may determine how long they will last and how much maint. is needed to keep them in good shape. I've owned TT's and 5er's without slide toppers and been camping where I had to wipe water off the top before I could break camp and/or remove pine needles and leaves....never had to do this with the toppers. Then again, I've never done anything to maintain my toppers except to wipe them off on ocassion with a mop, then let them dry in the sun..and made sure the tension is still ok..in other words, have never put more than 30 minutes in maintaining all 4 slide toppers...

As I stated earlier, as well as several others...depends on the type material that one uses to cover their slides with...mine is a weave type material, and is very, very low maint and after 6 yrs since this unit was built, has held up exceptionally well...

Did a search here, not a lot about slideout awnings. One said would not do again, a couple said would not be without them.

We were quoted about $600 for this option, did not get at time of purchase, but really are thinking we want to go back and have it installed (we only have one slideout).

Feedback?

Thanks!

I did not read any answers but will tell you we had one once but never again because of wind making too much noise.

In high winds I have watched them billow and tip in the top of the slide breaking the top seal of the slide momentarily. Scared a fellow camper to death when a glass of water spilled on the table and a whoosh of wind came in through the top seal. I helped her move some furniture so she could pull in the slides till it calmed down a little - and she spent some time with us.

I think region is important - wind gusts in CO and NE typically mean up to 100 mph, not the 60 mph you see at the coasts. Plenty of folks have them here, and plenty of folks go home with them torn and broken. At the same time, they may appreciate them in the mountains. To me, the gain aint worth the pain.

I like them. Need to install on the new trailer. It does get a little dirty between the roof and the awning. I just spray it down with the hose when I wash the trailer. Remember it's already water tight. I've even rolled them up with frozen water on top, it just rolls off. Never had a problem. To each their own, though!!!
