Our plan is to stay in one place for at least a couple of months at time about three quarters of the year. Has anyone used a portable step set and did it work for you? Currently I'm looking at these folks http://www.sunriservproducts.com/products.shtml but other suggestions would be welcome.

I designed my own set of steps that hook onto the existing step frame. It has 3 steps and then the fourth step up is into the trailer. Each step is 12 x 24 diamond plate and each step is 6 inches high. I also had a hand rail made from 1 inch square tubing that drops into 2 1-1/4 inch socket on the side of the steps and pins. It wasn't cheap but I had it made so my dad would not fall from slipping om the steps. i had to catch him as he slipped exiting the trailer on the showroom floor when I took him to look at it before I bought it. Weighs about 75 lbs though and I carry it in the truck bed. Can jump up and down on it. The framing is 1-1/4 x 3/16 and 1-1/4 x 1/8 angle. It is way overkill but I don't have to worry about dad falling. If I had to do it again I would have had 1 x 1/8 angle used. I think it cost about $170 to fabricate in 2004 I also had it Line-X'ed for another $75. I primed and painted the handrail semi Gloss black myself. I may still have the plans or I could make a new set of plans pretty quick but drawn using lighter steel and maybe with expanded metal treads in lieu of diamond plate. My existingtrailer steps are the ones that have the bottom step flip up and over onto the second step then the second step slides into the frame. My trailer floor is 24 inches above ground level.
We have a Sunrise stair. I have bad knees, so we needed something bigger than the rv steps. It's been great so far. Easy to put together. Ours has an open spot on the side that we put a dog ramp.
It was a bit pricey, and takes up a lot of storage space. And if we want to take the rv out on a day trip, or overnight, we have to take it down, store, then put it back up when we get back.
We've had it a couple of years, and I really think it has saved my knees. I really love it.
I am always looking for something more portable for our shorter trips, but haven't found anything yet. We are not diy'ers. Anything we bought would be for us AND the dogs.
But this stair is great for when we spend 3+ months in Florida.
We got a two step set some years back at Camping World that folds and fit in the compartment. They are just the right height for our last two rigs and save a lot of wear and tear on the built in electric steps. I haven't seen any like these two steps around lately.
mobeewan's link is the way to go. We got the EconoPorch from Camping World and are amazed at how portable it will be when we decide to move. Am only sorry we didn't have one years ago. Price vs sunrise is great
